Most cases are starting to be produced with SATA external connectors and it is a faster connection port than USB connection.
Set up a SATA drive in an "Icy Box" with SATA to SATA cables included.. unless you need to transfer regularly data to other computers, then Benimur is right on the button.. connect inside, setup & forget it
There are three more SATA connectors on the MOBO There is room above the factory drive to install another drive.
Options are the same, a USB external drive, be the best bet.
go fot it.
there are a lot brands of USB DRIVES,
good luck

Please buy a external USB hard drive casing if no other options are available.
Hi,
A desktop PC would normally have capacity for 4 IDE devices such as 1 CD/DVD, 3 HDs or any combination limited to a total of 4. Additionally, most current PCs have 2 SATA connection points. If for some reason all are occupied and hence your post "no available slot", you may want to consider using an external storage device attached via any USB port of your PC.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Hi again,
A quick answer to your post would be yes.
However, experience has taught me that internally connected proved to be faster. Further there are occasion that external are not recognized and would require fiddling around. Likewise, I've done so many repair/recovery on USB external storage devices of clients that I am more inclined to an internal hardwired storage.
Cheers.

Would you recommend an external e-sata drive (like Western Digital’s My Book Pro Edition II dual-drive ) to improve the speed?
