F9 error code on GE Monogram ZET958 wall oven

While using both the top and bottom GE Monogram ZET958 ovens we got an F9 error on one of them and had to shut it down. What does an F9 error code mean? After cooling off it appears to work fine again.

IN THE LOWER OVEN • If the function code repeats, disconnect all power to the oven for at DISPLAY least 30 seconds and then reconnect power. If the function error code repeats, call for service Here is someone that had the exact same problem: intermittent F7 error code. I couldn't even get it to do the F7 error . There's a pretty good tech service sheet inside the control panel. I followed its procedure for testing the keypad (which was nothing more than pressing all the buttons and hearing it go "BEEP!" silly.gif). But the tech sheet did mention that intermittent F7 problems are usually caused by poor connections. So I pulled the ribbon connector off the control board and cleaned the copper connectors using a pink pencil eraser. That whupped that puppy! But then I went out on another service call, same oven, different house. The pink pencil eraser trick didn't work on this one so I had to apply some of that famous Samurai gray matter. To identify the problem on this one, I cut power to the range and disconnected the ribbon connector that connected the touch pad to the electronic range control (ERC) board. Then I re-applied power and let it sit that way for 24 hours after which the customer was instructed to call me and report on the error code status of the oven. If no error code was reported, I knew the touch pad was the problem. If, on the other hand, the F7 error code came back, then I knew the (ERC) was the culprit. In this case, the error code did not come back during the test period and, using my keen, Vulcan-like powers of deduction, concluded that the touch pad was defective. I replaced the touch pad and problem solved! It's important that you don't skimp the disconnect test because there's a big difference in price between the ERC and touch pad. So, you want to be right on this one. Ok, after you do this test and determine which part you need to replace, come and get it here. **** this helps. :]

Hi. Error F2 in your oven means oven temperature sensor circuit failure. To resolve this issue you'll have to check the oven temp. sensor circuit if the reading is more then 1100ohms then it should be replaced however, if the rating is fine then it is the Electronic Range Control (ERC) that has gone bad & should be replaced.

F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine
whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is
defective when F1 error code is present.



Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single
assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC
(Clock).



Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or
making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.


1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing


2. Gain access inside the control panel.

3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC


4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was


5. Turn the power back on.

6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound)


7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

F9 is a problem with the oven door lock circuit. If the door is locked, it's probably a bad switch that tells the oven it's locked. If the door isn't locked, it's probably a problem with the lock mechanism.

A common problem on many built-in GE ovens (you don't say if yours is built-in or free standing...) is air circulation in the control panel. The fan that keeps the panel cool either stops working or gets clogged with dirt/dust and can't move any air. This causes the panel to overheat and can cause all kinds of odd problems and error codes. If you have a built-in, check to make sure the fan is working and the mesh screen behind it is clean.

My oven had flames burning up from the bottom during the self cleaning cycle. I managed to turn it off but it won't unlock. How do I unlock the door if I see flames? They stopped.


The oven wont unlock until the inside is at a certain temperature, to prevent you from burning yourself with the convective heat, or worse, the fire spreading to outside the oven. Once the flame runs out of oxygen inside, the flames will go out. But the oven may not unlock for a few hours at the most.

Ovens won't heat


Have you set the clock alot of ovens need the clock set so the oven will work, this is a safety thing so if you set the oven to turn off after 1 hour or at a certain time of day and say the power went out or the gas was turned off and came back on then the oven won't just start up on its own

What does F9 mean


Failure to clean code
I have two Monogram ovens but they are not adjacent to each other top and bottom but are separate in different areas of the counter. I did the self clean for both ovens for the first time and one oven had the F9 error code about 1 hour and 45 min into the clean and the other did not sound a code.

F9 error message during self cleaning cycle


Hello,F9 error means there is a problem with the lock switch.Check the wiring to the door lock switch (the wire harness may be connected wrongly).Check for stuck lock switch.

F2 Failure Code after cleaning cycle on GE Double


f-2 is usually a runaway oven temp which most of the time means a bad oven sensor.try replacing this first.
