Question about Timex Ironman 30 Lap 53952 Wrist Watch

2 Answers

I just bought a Sharp Wrist-watch with Opti-Glo for my boyfriend.

I just bought a Sharp Wrist-watch with Opti-Glo. The light comes on when you punch in the Crown so I know the battery is good but the watch will not start running. It says to remove the plastic guard, if there is one, and then to punch the crown into the case as far as it will go. I have done this until my finger is numb and bruised. It still won't start. There was no plastic guard. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Having trouble removing pin from men's Ebel 1911

Watchmakers are using special pin removing tools and punches. You can find them on Ebay. If you have pins you can not damage threads as pins do not have any threads - they are friction fitted. Punch must be the size of the pin end you can see. Some pins come out easily, some quite hard, so, use appropriate strength to drive pins out. In case if there are screws - use small screwdriver to fit in the slotted screw end and unscrew the screw.

Removing pins from men's 1911 Ebel wrist band

Punch must be metal. Size of punch must be the same as the screw size. Punch must go into the hollow part left by the screw, so, when tapped, the screw end (nut) will come out from the opposite side to where screw came out. Start tapping lightly and go harder and harder till you see the ends coming out. Read my tip - it can help as well. Tools can be bought on Ebay.

How to remove the pins from a 1911 Ebel men's wrist watch link?

Yes - you have to use punch and mallet. Punch must go in where the screws came out and as the result you will have bracelet screw ends coming out from the other side of bracelet.

How do i remove a link from the watch band?

hi friend,
step 1
Measure the watch band's length. Every wrist size is different, and there's no need to remove all of the links when you may only need to remove one or two. Putting the watch around your wrist and pinching each link around it to see how much room you need gives the jewelry wearer a reasonable estimate.
  • Step 258782_65x95_aspect.jpg Open the watch near the link you want to remove. Link watches have several openings, so even if you open the wrong clasp, it can always be reattached.
  • Step 358783_65x95_aspect.jpg Flick the tip of your fingernail inside the clasp to open the extra links. Continue doing so until you have removed all of the links that are too big for your wrist. If you have short fingernails, try using tweezers or anything with a sharp edge that can easily unfasten a link. New watches tend to be very stiff, so it may take a little nudging, but the links come off. It will be obvious which ones come off and which ones don't by looking at the back of the watch band. The links that come off have a claw on the tip of each one and sometimes have the brand name on top of it.
  • Step 458784_65x95_aspect.jpg Put the extra links in a safe place. There may come a time that you either let someone else borrow the watch or your wrist swells and you need these links again.
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); Tips & Warnings
    • If you can't get the links to open, visit a jewelry repair store. Workers there may be willing to help you adjust your watch for free. If you bought the watch from a retail store, the jewelry counter is usually required to adjust your watch for no additional cost.
    hope this helps u

    Puritan watch link removal

its sound simple enough but you will need to use a bit of force to budge the pin.

    you will need
    blue tack
    pin hammer

Roll up the blue tack push onto flat surface , push the barcelet side on into the blue tack wthe arrows pointing downward.
insert the punch into the hole and tap with hammer.
do this until you have removed enough links then push a pin back into the bracelet and tap home withthe hammer.

Shortening the Length of a Metal Wrist Band

I just did this for my wife's new Kenneth Cole wrist watch rather easily. You don't need a screwdriver, but a short section of a paper clip will do. I just set the band on a raise surface to allow room for the pin to be pushed out using the paper clip. For this watch, one side of the pin resembles the slotted side of a small screw - but it is not a screw. This is the side that bulges up a bit to help the pin stay in place. I believe if you punch it out from the opposite side it will fall off quickly, but if you do from the bulged side it, too, will come out but with some resistance. To reattach the band you need to punch the pin into the slot in such a way that its bulged side is on top otherwise you may end up with a bent pin. You must also first line up the hole with the paper clip before reinserting the pin. Good luck.
