You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitorswill blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts calledcapacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you aregood at electronicsrepair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web sitewww.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htmYou can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should workfine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and -connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one thesame way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

The Dell Dimension XPS 8300 system is automatically disabling the nVidia GeForce FX 5200 driver (Dell-installed) and defaulting to a generic VGA configuration. As a result, the images on screen appear elongated (vertically) and shortened (horizontally). Everything appears too tall and skinny. I have tried multiple reinstalls, deleted the driver, rolled it back, etc. When last I tried to uninstall the driver I got a message indicating that cant be uninstalled because the driver is needed for the system to boot. How do I fix this? Your assistance is appreciated. .
