7200edf promaster, the flash doesn't come on. When test is pressed, it goes off, but when the picture is taken (in various modes) the e-ttl light comes on and doesn't flash. Please help with ideas where to look for problems. Thank you in advance!

SOURCE: wont work

According to the Canon feature chart I have here; the 540EZ Speedlite flash is not compatible with the Digital Rebel XT in ETTL mode. The 480EG is also not compatible. The 550 or any of the others in that product line are would work. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Not flashing when you push the test button strongly indicates that the flash unit needs to be serviced.

SOURCE: Speedlight SB-600 TTL Flash: When I set my SB600 (mounted on D70) to TTL or TTL...

the sync speed for the sb-600 is onlt 1/200 on most cameras i think so if your shutter is faster then that then all you will see is black/ the curtans behind the shutter.

basicly just try again with a slower shutter speed

When I take a promaster remote flash trigger system with my canon 430ex half of the picture is exposed. What am I doing wrong?

this is most likely a sync issue. you shutter speed is too high. try lowering it. 1/200 or 1/160 of a second should be fine for your case.
