You pressed the FN key and whicever special function key controls the video display.
There normally are 3 settings. They are (not necessarily in this order) 1) put the video on the external monitor, 2) put the video on the computer's monitor, and 3) put the display on both monitors.
If you have no display showing, try pressing the key combinations several times. If you still see nothing, try connecting the computer to an external monitor to be sure it works.

You can connect to any monitor--doesn't have to be a projector.

Have you tried cycling all the way through the options with the F4? Most laptops toggle in a manner similar to: 1) Laptop only, 2) External display only, 3) Both displays, 4) Back to Laptop only (cycle repeats).

You can test by connecting to any monitor, such as one at home or work. It doesn't need to be a projector nor the same unit as before.

Hi. Screen blank for Samsung NPN130? Was working but suddenly went blank but computer working

Hi

have a look on the top row of keys on the keyboard and check if you accidently press the screen off key could be one of these keys F3 or F4 or F5

it may be worth trying to start up pressing the F8 key as soon as you press the power on key
and if you can read the writing on the screen then choose the last known good configuration
and see if windows can correct the problem when it restarts

I have an Acer Aspire netbook that I want to hook to a projector. I finally got the right cord to hook it up, but it will not display on the projector screen.

One of the F keys will toggle between the Laptop Screen and the VGA output - look at the F keys and see if one has a picture of a screen often F4 / F5 - needs to be used with the FN key
FN key+ F4 Key (Or which ever key has the symbol on)
It will toggle between <laptop screen only><laptop screen and VGA output><VGA output only> Not necessarily in that order

DVD video shows on laptop, but black on projector.

Assuming you are connected to the projector via the VGA port On the laptop, you will need to select the VGA output to work - there will be a picture of a screen on one of the F keys at the top of the keyboard, F4, F5 normally on laptops, but can be any of the F keys ----- (assuming F5 as an example ) use the FN key and the F5 key together it will then toggle between the following <laptop only><laptop and VGA output><VGA output only>

Computer used to work with projector, and now doesn't?

Have you tried pressing Fn F5? On my system (HP), by computer monitor goes dark when I connect the projector. Pressing (Function) FN F5 toggles the video between Computer Monitor, Projector, or Both.
Check the function settings for your computer. On my Compaq laptop at home, the video function is F4, so there may be different settings for your computer.
Good luck!
