Question about IBM eserver xSeries 205 8480

Reformated a new hard drive for IBM eserver xseries 205 8480 and installed xp pro, the pc does not see the mouse, I have tried several and it does not see them. When i use the arrow keys to navigate the start menu i lose teh video signal. HOw do I fix this or is it not worth fixing?

Ohh it's a problem with your mouse. Try changing. There might be a key board issue. But first change the mouse and check. :)

expand the "Hard Drive" option under the Boot Sequence.
Then you should be able to move the USB drive up above as primary hard drive, which then allowes to boot from the USB flash drive.

get a copy of xp pro service pack 2,or borrow dell xp cd of someone it comes with integrated drivers and installs all the way through,or disable sata in bios and give it a go worked for me

Try the lastest fireware. Has any new hardware been added. Run IBM diags to test all hardware.

I have IBM XSERIES 346 server.when we start the server then a warning displaythat one logical drive is off line and two are defunt. Please help me to solw this issue.


i have the exact same problem. i bought this server in an auction and i can not install any os on it. have tried ubuntu and centos but neither can find the hard drives.

How can i install windows xp?


This machine is built for Windows NT and Windows 2000 Server
i am not sure that IBM have XP for this machine if you have XP for any other IBM machine you can install but it will be very hard to find drivers for this machine you can check in IBM website or Lenovo website

I am trying to install windows2003 on IBM eserver xseries 226, i am not able to delete the C drive and create a new partition


Use IBM ServeRaid software to blow the array configuration away then recreate the C partition.

SCSI hard disk is not detecting in IBM xSeries 346 Server

While running the windows 2003 setup (winnt.exe), it will ask for SASI driver, you have to add the scsi driver... then windows 2003 os will detect the HDD.. then it will install..

While installing debian on IBM Xseries 306m it can't detect HDD


Have you initialized the disk from within the BIOS ? if not when you boot the server it says there are no hard disks.

Install windows xp on a IBM xseries 200 8479 computer


You have to download the scsi driver from the ibm site. You'll need a floppy and floppy drive. When you boot with your xp cd to setup press F6 to install driver.

Link to your IBM. Since IBM have different models you have to type it at the provided link.
