Re: partial internet connections

A quick workaround is to assign static/fixed IP address to the Compaq. Just follow the numbers listed on the Dell and simply add 1 to the IP. Example if Dell PC1 uses IP Add of and PC2 uses both with Subnet Mask of and Default Gateway of, then set the Compaq to, & Likewise, replicate the DNS Server numbers from the Dell to the Compaq.

If this does not work out for you or for some reason you prefer to have a DHCP assigned number, please post back, specific model of the Compaq, Operating System, the WiFi Networking card of the Compaq, security settings (WEP, WPA, MAC Filter) Further, please describe "partially working", what works and what doesn't.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back details as above requested or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Yes. 1. Disable the DHCP in the belkin router. 2. Take the cable from the LAN port of the Linksys router to the LAN port of the Belkin Router. 3. Dont touch anything else in any of the routers.

Router doesnt connect to internet

This sounds like a problem with your DSL modem, not the router. Try unplugging both devices and wait about 10 seconds. Plug in the modem first and wait about 30 seconds (at this point the Internet light should be on). Now plug in the router and wait another 30 seconds. This problem is normally due to the modem not getting sync. I would try plugging your laptop directly into modem if this doesn't work to see if you then have Internet. If not call your ISP.

Connecting wireless router to laptop computer

Try changing the channel on the router. It would be better to isolate the problem first by trying to connect to other wireless networks on your laptop or having someone's laptop connect to your home wireless network.
