Question about Computers & Internet
I have a new emachines desktop and I am trying to hook up my printer using a USB cord, but I don't know which port is which. it's asking whether its in port lpt1,2,3,etc... its not labeled. I have it in the usb port right next to where the internet is plugged into. It didn't come with a diagram...
when I just guessed which port it was I got to the ''select type of printer'' portion and HP Laser jet 1022 wasn't even an option! what do I do?
Hook up the USB cord from printer to any free one on the PC. Once you power on the printer, the computer will detect a new device. It will ask for a driver. Insert the CD and wait. If you have the installation CD, you can also start with that and it should install the drivers. This would not be a LPT port but one of the USB. Id you already went though it, during install, have to do a manual selection and choose Have Disk and point to either the CD or any folder where you have the drivers on the computer.
