Re: the card is there, but it's not being read
The MMC cards should always be formatted to suite the file system of the device, so its recommended that you format the MMC card using the device on which you want to use it.If you formatted it using a PC you must select the appropriate format while formatting it.

hi! All you have to do to reformat the memory card is that you have to insert the memory card, press the Center Select Key,scroll to and select Phone Status, scroll to and select Device Info,
scroll to and select Storage Devices, select Memory Card and press Options, and then select Format. When prompted, press Yes to continue or No to cancel formatting.
Another step for you to be able to reformat your memory card is you just have to press Main Menu, scroll to and Select Settings, scroll to and Select Storage Device, scroll to and Select Memory Card, scroll to and Select Format Memory Card, and then
highlight Yes and press the Center Select Key.
And this will also be an option for you to format your memory card. Here are the steps: Insert the microSD card. Press Menu > Settings > Security. Enter your lock code. Select Format External Memory. (A warning will be displayed.). If you are sure you wish to remove all the files from your microSD card, select Yes (left softkey).
according to this article
I believe it will only go up to 2GB. That or the music files you put on there have to be in a different format. Most likely the first option though.
Hope this helps, be sure to rate how i did
Do you have a memory card reader for your PC, try to borrow one from a friend and check if you can read data off the card. If you can then make a backup of the data and then format the card to FAT32 as i think you have formatted the card to NTFS which is a file system native to windows and will not work with mobile phones. The best option would be to format the card on the phone itself after data backup as it will assure compatibility with itself.
If the memory card worked before with your phone, then suddenly became unrecognized, then the memory card probably got corrupted.
The best thing that you may try is to insert the card to another phone and connect it to a different computer. There are times that another computer recognizes the card with this kind of problem.
If a different computer recognizes your card, immediately back-up the files, then reformat your memory card. However, if the same problem occur on different computer, then there's nothing that we could do but to reformat it.
Whether you reformat it or not, you could no longer recover the files if it's still unrecognized.
take out the memory card and put it in a card reader And reformat the card from comand promt that should fix it.
TYPE ON RUN CMD an black screen type:
FORMAT /F C:
THE C: IS THE LETER OF YOUR HARD DISK BUT INSTEAD OF C: PUT THE LETER OF YOUR CARD COULD BE E: F: AND SO ON.IF THAT DOES NOT FIX IT TRY ON THE COPMUTER MANAGEMENT, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IS OK NOW .
You can try formatting the memory card on your computer if it came with an SD adapter and your computer has an SD slot. If not I would recommend having a friend reformat it on their phone, OR you could bring it to your service provider and see if they can reformat it for you.
ok, I have managed to use my sandisk 512mb card to put on music...even though I didnt know you had to format the disk in phone first (I dont recommend because all my music is individual clips and not in my music file), however once you see that the music is on the card via "my files" I went to the music player and hit options...then hit "add music from" then hit "memory card"...now you must put a check mark by all the music files you want to add to the music player (or choose "all" and hit ok) This will put your chosen songs off your card into the music player and you can see the song title at the top of your player screen and use the arrows to move through your songs/clips. Choose the song and hit play.
Do you have a card reader in your pc that you can put the card in? And of course the adapter to convert microsd to sd card size? If so then just put the card in pc, right click on the icon when it appears in your "My Computer" folder, left click "format" and format the card there. It's possible that the data on the card got corrupted somehow and maybe why the phone is having trouble reading or reformatting it. If the card still doesn't seem to work after putting songs or pictures on it, try using the card in a compatible mp3 player or a friend's phone with a microsd card to see if the card works, if it does then the problem is probably with your phone. I have heard about compatibility problems with some phones and certain brands of microsd cards, not sure if this is one of them. Hope this helps.
