Question about Miele 24 in. G865 Built-in Dishwasher

2 Answers

My G865 Miele dishwasher goes partway through the cycle then gets hung up and runs without advancing. We left it running when we left for vacation and it was still running when we came back. I'm assuming it is the timer mechanism. The dishwasher is ten years old but has been run only every other day or so. Is it worth fixing or is it better to replace?

So you are pretty sure it is the thermostat and not the timer mechanism? We have the same problem regardless of which cycle we try it on.

Is this something we could do ourselves or should we hire someone to do it?

Do you believe it is worth doing this repair for a dishwasher of this age (10 years but run only every 2 days or so).

Actually, I was disappointed. I asked for elaboration on the first response from the first expert because he indicated a totally different problem from what the authorized Miele dealer guessed it might be based on an earlier phone consult. Unfortunately, the first "expert" did not deign to respond. Someone else with the not too promising monicker of "outofworkjoe" responded only with a statement that it would cost "a lot" to get it repaired and, since the appliance was ten years old I should replace it. Still not very helpful. No one seems to be capable of reading an entire email and responding to it. I'm just giving up on your service and writing the $10 off to my further "education."

hi,

sounds like a faulty electronic unit as i have seen this before where the unit continously fills with water.
you will probably need a service call to repair the unit unless you are happy to fix it yourselves. have a chat with Miele directly as they are very helpful
Hope this helps.

No water is going through the hot water connection device to the washer, why?

It's either not getting the signal from the temp selector switch or the valve is not working. You can swap the hot and cold to see which it is.

Dishwasher during normal cycle gets hung up and does not advance

HI. this is just a control fault. you can try to reset the core program by unplugging this unit for 5 minutes. this will drain all power and reset the core on the timer/control.

If you experience the same situation after this reset, simply replace the control/timer module.

Dishwasher not washing

Check the very bottom tray under the machine. Remove the lower front cover, 2 screws, and you'll find a tray full of water.  A Turkey Baster will **** most of it out,  towel the rest.
Once dry, the machine will operate through all cycles, most likely.
This is a common problem with this model.  I have to do this about once a year.

G865 - Constantly draining

Your problem is a water leak.  There are a couple of rubber seals that are required to correct the problem.. When the seal leaks it accumulates in a tray in the bottom where a sensor turns on the pump when water is present.  If you remove the lower access panel and reach in you should see the accumulated water.  I had a repair tech repair mine.

you should have a dispenser on the door to add salt, regardless get c.l.r. calcium lime rust remover from a supermarket, lowes, home depot.put a cup in the unit ,run for 15 minutes and then put a cup in again.let the unit complete its cycle.if you still smell the odor repeat until its gone.you could also use baking soda, flour or vinegar.
