You can change the system in which your TV operates, by using menu or setup. You have to play around with it I don't know exactly how on this particular TV.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I just bought a series of movies from the UK and found out about this whole regions thing. I have a Sylvania sdvd4101c an do can't figure out how to unlock it. Help!

Your trouble may not end at the region of the DVD player. There's the issue of format. There is NTSC (USA), PAL (UK) and a lesser used SECAM format. These are NOT interchangeable unless the player supports it. See this link for more:

What is the difference between PAL NTSC and SECAM

Many players can have the region changed. Most however, are computer drives. Home audio equipment can be tricky - and you might want to have a look here first:

Playing UK region 2 DVDs on American region 1 DVD players

Some players allow you to make several changes and that's all, or allow you to set to "Region Free" (which is ideal).

Unable to capture good image in PAL/SECAM region on Hitachi tv model No. 32UX01S

Some versions of this set will have only NTSC color system. They are meant to use with countries like US and others. Check whether your TV is multisystem compactable. That is, whether it can recive PAL/SECM/N.NTSC. You can get this details by its user manual. If you have its manual, refer it. If not, download it from here.

Can I use my Element FLX 2611 B in Germany?

If the set is USA or north America format that is NTSC and in Europe a lot of places are PAL or Secam---means if USA NTSC set you will need a PAL/SECAM to NTSC converter--converts one signal type to another.

Only other possible issue is voltage---must be 110-120 volts AC and not 220 volts.

Change colour system ntsc to pal of citizen st 555 2 2 tv

In short, it is not re programmable. Since PAL/SECAM/NTSC are different standards of TV and typically region specific, they do not produce multi system devices (in this size at least). This has a lot to do with setup. The board for a tuner is different for each of these standards. They do however sell this item in a PAL setup on ebay. But it is a whole new unit.

I cannot play NTSC DVD's on my Bose system

thats because your region is for PAL-SECAM. Your unit cannot recognize this format unless it has been programmed to automatically play NTSC & PAL-SECAM.. Browse the menu and try switching to NTSC format. hope this helps ;-)

DVD player only plays in black and white on Soniq 42'' Plasma TV. (Have tried 3 different players all have the same problem)

The color loss is most likely due to a NTSC/PAL compatibility issue. If you bought the players overseas in a PAL region (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0d/PAL-NTSC-SECAM.svg) and the TV is NTSC or vice-versa, there will be a color loss. Thiss because the different regions have different formats and when you go from one to the other, the color does no transfer over. You can buy a PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL converter to fix this issue.

There are currently 3 main television standards used throughout the world:

NTSC - National Television Standards Committee. The oldest existing standard, developed in the USA. First used in 1954. Consists of 525 horizontal lines of display and 60 vertical lines. Sometimes irreverently referred to as "Never Twice the Same Color." Only one type exists, known as NTSC M.
Here is a list of TV STANDAREDS I had for a while and can finally share it with someone. GOOD LUCK!!!! TECHMAN

SECAM - Système électronique pour Couleur avec Mémoire. Developed in France. First used in 1967. A 625-line vertical, 50-line horizontal display. Sometimes referred to by wags as "Something Essentially Contrary to the American Method" or SEcond Colour Always Magenta!" Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Types B and D usually used for VHF; types G, H, and K for UHF; types I, N, M, K1 and L for both VHF/UHF. Different types are generally not compatible.

PAL - Phase Alternating Line. Developed by German engineer Walter Bruch and the German electronic corporation Telefunken. Walter Bruch
patented his invention 1963 and the first commercial application of the PAL system was in August 1967. Also a 625/50-line display and variant of NTSC. Proponents call it "Perfection At Last." Due to the cost of the enormous circuit complexity, critics often refer to it as "Pay A Lot". Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Common types are B, G and H; less common types include D, I, K, N and M. The different types are generally not compatible.

Region support

If the TV was sold in the US then most likely it cannot support anything but NTSC. It would have a label or some indication that it would be mulit format or you would see a way to switch to PAL,SECAM etc. in the users menus.

No sound

Go into the TV Menu and access the sound settings, for the UK it would normally be set to I. This MAY need to be changed to a different setting. Try the options that are listed. Might fix it!!
