Question about Video Cameras
Hi, i have a sony ccd-trv46e camcorder, and i am just wondering whether it is possible to connect this to a computer?
the only wires i have for it is the one you use to charge it and one with black and yellow sort of plugs at both ends that doesnt seem to connect to anything.
i dont want to know which software i need to use because i know that, i'd just like to know what i need to connect the camera to the computer?

There is no reason why it shouldn't work. When you attach the camera via firewire the operating system will recognise and show an icon in the bottom right corner. Then whichever application you use to capture the video, when you select the option to capture video via DV it should bring up a little preview window with buttons for rewind, play, forward, pause, stop etc. using these onscreen buttons you can control the camera to set to the correct scene prior to capture. Also you might want to try not playing back a tape for capture but video directly through the viewfinder.
And yes its not that easy to edit DV video after capture. Though the quality is brilliant.

Please use Video Head Cleaning cassette to clean its video head. I'm sure, you get error sign of Dirty Video Head in view finder while recording.

Switch Control unit, having Stop, Play, FF, Rew, Pause and Tele-Wide switch at top of camera is cause of this problem. Its ribbon wire has been damaged / cracked, going to camera board. You need to replace that complete part because ribbon wire is not available individualy.

I don't know it this will solve your problem but I'm using a 3 pole male plug and getting picture on the TV (but not great picture - see above).

if this doesnt have USB interface, you need a USB Audio and Video Combo Adapter. something like this http://www.computercablestore.com/USB_Audio_and_Video_Combo_PID1600.aspx for optimum video performace, use S video connector. let me know if you have question.
