Question about LG LF-U850 Shelf System
Have the same prob as another user where my LG Shelf LFU850, I had to call cust svc which was sort of a pain because somehow they have a detailed caller ID system and knew my phone number and address and asking where I bought it and when I bought it, etc. when all i wanted was a simple solution.
it came down to "resetting" the unit unplugging it (i need to but cant find the notes from my call a few months ago) pressing 2 of the buttons to reset it.
i still dont trust the unit, im sure I can't return it or exchange it at the Best Buy. Resetting didnt really work, well it did for a few months but today, all by itself, it went to MAX all on its own.
Im wondering if somehow wireless signals (my PC conn is a DSL so i dont have any other bluetooth or wireless things to interfere) but something is making it go up by itself.
And their Cust Svc did not seem to know anything about this prob. Sadly I think Im gonna have to call them back... I did and the lady said she had never heard of that problem, to Reset it by unplugging it for 40 seconds, which doesnt seem like a way to reset the unit (say the power went out or i moved it to another room, would that make it reset) So the problem still seems to be existing, and intermittent.
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: Volume raised by itself
did you ever get a solution to your problem ? I have the same problem, I called Customer service and they wanted me to reset the unit by just unplugging it for 40 seconds (and holding down the power button while it was unplugged) which didnt seem like a way to reset it to me, since all of my radio presets were still there. it did it again yesterday, the volume all the way up. The Cust Svc person (who im sure is not a tech) said she had never heard of this problem and said I could send it in for service for $69 plus parts. (not worth it.) email me back if you found out a better solution, i just found the resetting by unplugging didnt work for me. jen21090 @ yahoo . com

1. The volume up button on the remote may be stuck down- try wiggling the button to get it out. If it isn't the remote if the local volume control is in fact two buttons perhaps that one is stuck in or damaged.
2. The dvd sounds like it needs a new laser unit- a worn laser unit may play up like this.
It might be time for a new one as replacement can be sometimes more than the cost of a new one nowdays!
