Try this. hope this helps :D

when asked for a code, try this:

press 'select' button --> 7444 --> enter new code --> re-enter new code.
this should start the movie.

'7444' deletes the previous parental code.

SOURCE: lost password for ps2, 7444 isnt working

Aren't you supposed to press select 'before' you enter 7444? If I recall, you bring up the screen that says 'enter password'. From there, you press select and it should say 'delete password'. Then enter 7444 and press X.

I'll work with you as much as i can but try that first.

I TRYED TO PLAY DVD IS SAID BLOCKED BY FAMILY SETTING, BUT I DON'T HAVE CODE

1. Place a DVD that prompts you for your password in your PS2. If you have any R rated DVDs sitting around, one of those should work just fine. It should prompt you for the password before anything else comes up.

2. Select "Yes" to playing the movie and select "Yes" again to temporarily suspend parental controls. This is where you would put in the password if you knew it and the DVD would play. You may try "1111" at this point, as it is often the password. If that doesn't work, continue through the next few steps.

3. Press the "Select" button on the screen that wants you to input the password. This should change the text on the screen from "Enter Password" to "Delete Password."

4. Input the numbers "7444" into the box on the screen. This is the universal password needed to delete the current password. Once you input the numbers, you should get a message that says "Deletion Complete." Press the "Select" button again and you should be prompted to enter a new password.

5. Enter a new password for your parental control. Make sure it is something easy that you will remember. Once you enter it in, you will be asked to confirm your new password. Enter it one more time and you should be able to watch any DVD you want.

I bought my grandson a used ps2 for xmas and it has a stored parental lock 4 diget code and he can't play anything except g movies. we tried the 7444 and it didn't work. can yo help me with this problem?

You must push select before entering 7444, this will change the text to Delete Password from Enter Password. Afterwards it will say password deleted, register password. If this now works you can change the level. I have come across this problem and was able to get 0000 to work although it was not the password. There is software you can use to bypass this as well.

PS2 PARENTAL CONTROL CODE

This is the only way to turn "off" parental control lock on the custom setup screen.

1) turn off ps2 with no dvd in drive.
2) turn on ps2 and insert dvd in drive.
3) when it asks about parental password, choose 'yes'.
4) when prompted for password, press 'select'.
5) the prompt will change and say 'delete password'. enter '7444'.
6) enter a new password (0000 works).
7) registration complete, dvd will start playing.
8) once the movie starts, press 'select'.
9) click the 'stop' icon.
10) click the 'stop' icon again (the icon must be gray even when you have it highlighted).
11) navigate to 'custom setup' ('select', setup icon, custom setup icon)
12) move to parental control option, press right directional button, enter password (0000).
13) move down to 'level'.
14) move up to desired level (off is at the top).
15) click 'x'.
16) go back to 'select' menu options, and press 'play'.
17) while movie is playing, eject disk and remove dvd.
18) turn ps2 off using switch on the back, keep off for five seconds.
19) turn on ps2, put dvd back in.
20) happy dance. ;)

Lost my password for ps2

Put a DVD into the PS2 and let it try to load. When the screen says chenge to level four select yes. When the entry window pops up,press the select button on the controller. It should say reset password or something like that. Put in 7444. Then when you rename the password put in 0000. You will have to do it again 0000.
Once the movie starts, not the menu screen, but the movie actually playing, Press Select button again. The PS2 DVD menu should appear. Cursor over to the toolbox or Setup, and press X. Cursor over to the third icon, and press X. Arrow down to PArental and press X. Change the Parental lockout to OFF.

I am not completely sure about the procedure here but the numbers are correct.

Parental levels

Put in a DVD, and press select button to go to PS2 DVD menu.  highlight setup menu. Press X.  go to settings I think, and paretal control is there.  Use password 7444.   Usually everyone sets the password to 0000.  Then when you go into the parental settings, turn the level value to OFF
