Help ! Soukorus, anybody, No picture on this thing. What is the easy solution?
2 680u/25 caps explode in the p.s. caused by underrated power MOSFETS. Replace the caps.

Most likely the tv has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

When I turn the TV on, the LCD backlight briefly energizes, then goes out. I can hear the audio on my TV, but can't see the video. I took a flashlight and placed it up against the LCD screen and I could see the video. Make sure you are not in a bright room, as this might make it harder to see the video using the flash light. This doesn't help much, but I can't imagine the light bulb is very expensive, I think I will take it to get serviced.

I agree, it does sound like a problem with the fluorescent lights that light up the screen aren't getting power. The other thing could be something wrong with the circuits that convey video to the screen.
BUT -- if all was OK until you hooked up the digital converter box, maybe that is set incorrectly. Even so, I would expect the channel numbers to appear on the screen when you change chanels, and a menu to appear when you press "menu".
If you were knowledgeable enough to fix the black screen problem by ordering a service manual, I don't think you would have posted a question to start with. You probably will need to have a pro fix this. My guess is that the cost will be $100-300.
