SOURCE: Ballast problem on PT-40LC12

Panasonic makes a Ballast Repair Kit LSUC0022 for the PT-50LC13 for around $20, to correct the same problem with that model.

I wonder if Panasonic has a Ballast Repair kit for the PT-40LC12, or if the LSUC0022 would work with the PT-40LC12?

Anyone know?

SOURCE: Panasonic PT-45lc problem

It's a long shot, but it's what I am waiting on. Go to the Panasonic website and search for pt-45lc12. Find the order parts and supplies and look for thermal fuse (the ID should be similar to LSS###... etc.) Order 1 (or more, as this is a problem part) and then undo the entire set. on the backside of the teevee, you should see the fan, a vent, and under it a shiny metal box. unscrew it from the frame and disconnect all the wires to it (remember where they go back) and you'll see a small ceramic fuse. This is the problem with mine and I'm waiting for the part to come in so it should work. This is what a certified tech told me, so hopefully that's the extent of the problem. It takes a while, but hopefully it'll be back up and running shortly!!!

Hi,

The most common cause of Panasonic Rear Projection LCD TVs not starting is bulb failure. The PT-60LC13 users manual gives some help in translating the LEDs on the front of the TV.

If the TV worked normally for a period of time (months or years) and won't start, the most likely cause is bulb failure. There is no way to measure the bulb, sometimes the bulb is visibly damaged when it fails. Remove the Lamp Assembly and look at the bulb.

If there was an On-Screen Lamp Replace warning and TV won't start, bulb has failed.

The first step with all Panasonic Rear Projection TV "No Picture" problems is bulb replacement. If that does not remedy the problem, get a technician, there are no user serviceable parts. Guessing if the ballast, power supply, controller board or optical engine is faulty is not practical.

The Panasonic Lamp Gallery shows all Panasonic models and Lamp Numbers. There is also a link to Panasonic DIY bulb and lamp replacement.

Panasonic PT-60LC13 color problems. Issue happened all of a sudden. Color is very yellow. No matter what I do with the color controls it is still yellow.

dabears85,

You have an optical engine which needs replaced. See my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4251975-replace_dlp_light_engine for the procedure involved with replacing the optical engine and also where to get the parts at a good price.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

This sounds like a power supply problem, or a vertical issue. The Panasonic sets are one of the best tv's out there and generally worth fixing, but it will need a tv technician to resolve the issues.

Panasonic pt-50lc13 it just will not turn on,but the red light is on and the lamp was replace

Is the lamp indicator light flashing? A new lamp may not solve the problem. The known problem with lamp failures is poor voltage output from the ballast,.. a problem Panasonic refuses to correct and they decided to no longer provide the repair part through their supplier in an attempt to sweep this problem under the rug.
Lamp light flashing once every 5 seconds or twice every 5? Twice every 5 seconds,....lamp failure, once every 5 seconds,...ballast or thermal fuse failure. You have a lamp, ballast or thermal fuse problem. The ballasts are a discontinued part and can only be purchased used at approx. $225.00 or rebuilt for around $175.00 less any service charges to diagnois and repair.

CHANGED THE LAMP AND CODE ORANGE IS ON

Perhaps....If the lamp still will not fire, most likely is a bad ballast. If you are electronically inclined,. first make sure the thermal cutoff on the lamphouse has not opened first and then check to make sure the 300 volt supply to the ballast is ok. If the fans are not running, and this is a combined ballast/power supply, most likely it is bad.

Panasonic PT-50LCX63 it's not the bulb this time.

I've worked on similar units. If the bulb is good then the ballast that powers the lamp has failed. The ballast is available but around 300-400 US

Lamp problem or else?

You need to get the ballast repair kit #LSUC0002 and replace the parts to your ballast.

I have the exact same TV, did the above this past weekend, and the TV works like new.

You need to know how to solder though. It's not that hard.
