DFF1144W problem There is a big problem with my refrigerator. It makes a lot of ice which goes up and sometimes blocks the fan and the food is not cold. I believe the fan touches the ice because it's very noisy. I have to defrost it every 2 weeks. Could anybody help me please ? My email is: [email protected]

SOURCE: GE GSS22WGPH WW won't defrost

Hi, You can test the defrost heater for coninuity. Unplug the refrigerator and remove the heater. If the heater shows an open circuit, it wil need replaced. The defrost heater is the most common problem with this model. If the heater shows ok, you can test the bi-metal switch for continuity. This switch must be tested while it is cold.
This model has a mother board system rather then a defrost timer. The mother board cost is in the area of $160.00. Make sure the defrost heater or the bi-metal switch are ok before changing the mother board
Please let me know if this helps you at all or if I can assist you further.

WHY IS THERE WATER IN BOTTON OF FREEZER AND ICE MAKER NOT MAKING ANY ICE

You have an iced up evaporator (cooling coil). This coil is usually located in the freezer section. A small fan distributes air across this coil and into the refrigerator. If coil is block with ice, no air can be blown across the coil. Coil is blocked with ice due to failed defrost timer on main circuit board or a failed defrost heater.

We have a FRS-U20FA

The water dispenser tube has a low wattage element to prevent the water from freezing in the tube. its normal. Check to see if the evaporator fan is running. Open the freezer door and when the fridge is running, press the switch on the side wall. The freezer light should go out and then you should hear the fan running at the back of the freezer compartment. Common symptoms of a failed fan is ice growing down the back of the freezer compartment , poor refrigeration in the food compartment and partial or poor freezing of food in the freezer. If the fridge is less than 2 years old, it will be under warranty. (Contact Castel Electronics in Melbourne 13
00733962) If its over, they can give you the name and number of a local agent. There are a lot of bits and pieces to remove to get to the fan on an ice and water model, also the rear panel inside the freezer should be removed to make sure ice hasn't blocked the air ducts. If you are not confident in doing it, get one of their agents to sort it out. Cost of fan motor, call and labour should be around $200 to $220

Freezer works but fridge not cooling

On this type ice box the cold air for the freshfood section comes from the freezer via a fan motor. For all of it to work propah the freezer must not be crammed full. The air has to circulate or the fresh food section will suffer. So if you have it overloaded where the air cannot get below then Houston we indeed have a problem. If that is fine we want to next check to see if the fan is blowing up in the freezer section. No fan no cold air below. If that is fine we want to make sure the evap coils ain't froze ova by a faulty defrost heater or termination thermostat. If the defrost is all propah AND the fan is fine AND the coils behind the ice box are clean for optimum performance, then look for a clogged defrost drain. Sometimes the drain cloggs and the water pools between freezer and fresh food section. A slab of ice forms effectively blocking any cold air from gettin to the bottom. To cure that yall unplug it and let it all thaw out then clean the defrost drain. If ice is blocking the defrost drain then run a wire down into it from the heater to keep the drain open and party on!

Kenmore refrigerator(model 10653606202) freezer is cooling, can hear the circulation fan' noise, also see defrosted water in the bottom collection pan. but the refrege is not cooling.

If the freezers is freezing everything and you can hear the circulation fan, maybe it is a defrost problem. Sometime ice will build up behind the rear panel in the freezer section that blocks either the chilling tubes to the refrigerator section.

You will need to remove the food from the freezer, then remove the shelves and inside back panel of the freezer. If you see a lot of ice, that is probably your problem. DON'T use water to defrost, either unplug and let it set with the door open or hurry it up with a hair dryer.

It also means your defrost assembly has stopped working and will need replaced, but the unit will work without it for several weeks before the ice build up redevelops.

Freezer is cold but it is not freezing foods.

When it comes to refrigerators I always have a most likely to least likely formula to try to solve the reason of why the freezer or fresh food compartment is or is not cooling properly. So knowing that the cold air comes most times from the freezer compartment I would look to see if the fan inside that compartment may just be slowing down because it is possible there is frost building behind the freezer wall due to most likely defrost not taking place and creating a huge block of snow and ice blocking air circulation.. Ice will show on the outside wall of freezer also if possibly the defrost heater is burned out. There are so great testing tutoral'son the following links! So now having your model number that most people don't think about I will look to see just what type of defrost system your model has=> ABB1927DE EVAPORATOR AREA and Rollers location 16 in photo. Freezer makes ice, but will not freeze food. control board has been replaced

Is it a side by side? Do you have model number? Was the control board replaced because of this issue? Does the fan motor in freezer operate? Open freezer door and push in door switch to operate fan motor. If it is a side by side sometimes when the fan motor goes bad it damages the motherboard. Is their ice build up on back wall of freezer?

Freezer is very cold but fridge area is warm. what is up.

Sometimes the defrost drain pan stops up. Instead of the water goin outside is pools up between the compartments. This forms a slab of ice and blocks the air flow from freezer to fresh food. Of course the other thing that comes to mind is the freezer fan could have quit or stopped due to an ice buildup.

Bottom not cool at all

Greetings,
The first thing to check is are all the fans running? there is one in the freezer and usually one in the rear compressor compartment...the next thing to check if fans are operating is: remove rear freezer panel and see if ice or frost is blocking the air thru the freezer coil...if there is ice blocking the airflow. defrost the coil using a hair dryer.. the fresh food section gets cold air from the freezer..its blown over into top of refrigeration via a fan...it goes thru a baffle into refrigerator...this baffle sometimes will not open...This is one place you check for air coming into refrigerator...so, check here also before you take it apart. there should be a noticable amount of airflow....if not, remove the cover and work a small wooden dowel or skewer into the slot and open the vent..this will allow air to go into refrig section...the skewer can be left in there to keep it working if this is it...getting back to a frosted evap...if it is froze up..there is a derfost problem and defrosting will give you temp service until you can get it repaired......Bruce Denton

Refrigerator section does not cool; freezer works fine

Check the settings first. They should be set to the factory settings in most cases. Otherwise check the back of your freezer to see if it is icing up, you may need to remove the back panel to see the ice. If this is the case the ice may be preventing the fan to circulate the cold air into the freezer and you will need a new defrost timer. However if there is no ice and the fan never kicks on you may need a new fan motor.

The refrigerators accumulate ice

the fridge distrubutes cold by air movement. A overstuffed fridge can have trouble. There is a fan that blows a controlled amount of freezer air over to the food side, altho when this goes you usually have frozen freezer and food too warm. Make sure the air is allowed to move.
