For all the hassle which could require a lot of work & money forget it.
Just go to ebay type in ice maker, they all work pretty well & start around $100.

You will have to look in the freezer section and see if there are holes in the left side wall to mount the icemaker and also if you look at the left rear of freezer section to see if there is a spot for the harness to plug in. Also look on the model serial tag inside unit to see if they listthe part number to add on icemaker kit.

SOURCE: ice maker drips water

In most of theses cases the dripping is caused by the molding in the ice maker cracking and the water is wicked out. On some ice makers you can replace the complete molding but its usually easier to just replace the ice maker.

SOURCE: ice maker overfills and leaks into the ice bin.

I have had a similar problem several times. What I have found is that the ice tray coating has begun to flake off. Then, the ice sticks or partially dumps. Next more ice builds up and when the valve opens the water runs over the partially emptied tray and spills into the bin making "icebergs". The remedy is to replace the tray or if that is not possible, then, the whole icemaker. In fact, I have one down stairs to put in tomorrow. They don't seem to last more than about 4 years or so.

SOURCE: my ice maker quit making ice.

Hi, If your ice maker has stopped making ice then you need to check these things.
The lever that controls the ice maker has been pushed up which turns it off. If you have a red lever, pull it down to the wire and if you just have a wire then just pull down the wire to start your ice maker up.
Make sure the freezer temperature is below 10 degrees F If the freezer is too warm ice production will be poor because the ice maker will not cycle properly.
The ice maker fill tube may have ice formed in it, blocking it. Use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Watch out for the plastic parts, so that you do not melt the plastic. Also check the water inlet valve and the shut off valve, to make sure it is not plugged with debris. The openings in those valves are very small.
Check the gears in the ice makers to see if they are broken or stripped. Also look to see if the ice rake is broken. All parts in the ice maker are replaceable individually, If you find broken parts replace them.

Take care

How do I remove the ice maker from the refrigerator?

Hello there,
To be able to remove the ice maker from the refrigerator, please follow the steps below:
  1. Unplug the refrigerator ffrom the power outlet,
  2. Open the door and unscrew the screws that mount the ice maker, there are basically 2 screws, for some model, there is a screw under the mounting that is holding the ice maker in place, but make sure you do not loosen the screws completely,
  3. Lift the ice maker up from the screws mounting it and pull it out from the rear of the refrigertor,
  4. You will have to squeeze the tab on the wire connector in order to remove it from the refrigerator wire harness.
  5. Then you can remove the ice maker.
That is how to remove the ice maker from the amana refrigerator.
All the best. Elect_Comp

Adjusting Ice Maker Fill

Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the screws on the ice maker's front access panel, and then remove the panel.

  • Locate the adjustment screw, located about mid-point on the side of the ice maker. Do not turn the crew more than one full turn in either direction.
  • Turn the screw clockwise ½ turn to decrease the water fill level.
  • Turn the screw counterclockwise ½ turn to increase the water fill level.
  • Close the access panel and restore the screws. Turn the refrigerator back on.
