There is a drain tube that allows water to drain from the freezer during the defrost cycle, it gets plugged from time to time, you will need to find and clean out this tube, it is sometimes of the back of the fridge.

Yes the bottom compartment does have a drain opening but to see it you will need to remove the rear panel covering the evaporator inside the back wall of the freezer compartment. See item location number 11 on page 3 of the parts list. That will need to be removed so you can reach the drain inside the freezer compartment. The fresh food section also has a drain. JDC2389GES side by side fridge Water is leaking inside the freezer and pooling at the bottom.

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Actually the leaking water is from the evaporator coil unit....(it is located at the back wall or underneath the freezer compartment). Under normal conditions,Self-defrost refrigerators usually dispose the water generated during the defrost cycle through a tube or channel that directs the water a pan (Known as Drip pan), commonly below the refrigerator unit....
The channel or tube is clogged and the water is leaking to the refrigerator/freezer unit, so you need to clear that blockage/contamination....Once the blockage is removed, the generated water will move through that channel/tube directly to the drip pan and there will no water on the floor in the refrigerator/freezer compartment. This is all you need to do....

Best of Luck,

Water leaking inside freezer and refrigerator.

you have a clogged drain tube in the freezer compartment. it is frozen with ice and as the unit goes in to a defrost cycle the water has no place to go. you can fix it the easy way, just unplug the unit and let it defrost. this will take care of your issue.

I have water collecting on the iside of the refrigerator compartment. It is leaking through the air vent openings from the freezer compartment.

I am going to assume you have a defrost condensate blockage in the rear of the freezer and behind the rear panel where the evaporator dreains condensate after each defros. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The answer to finding the cause of the leak is where we need to begin. Most start in the freezer section behind the rear panel where the defrost condensate is drained during defrost. Sometimes the drain hole freezes over and the water drains down into the freezer creating a large area of frozen water. Other times i happens as the water leaves the drain in the freezer and follows its path to the pan below your refrigerator to re evaporate into the air inside your home. If leaking inside the fresh food compartment then the cup behind the control panel may be over flowing and leaking down the back wall of the refrigerator and will need to be taken apart and cleaned to allow the water to continue down to the pan below the refrigerator. Sludge and dust or even ice may be blocking this line. Below is a link to a page that may help you resolve and fix this. Compartments are not real cold/ ice maker stopped working too

It sounds like your refrigerant was leaking out. There may be some settled at the bottom that would explain the frozen water on the bottom. a good appliance store should be able to find the leak fix it and add more refrigerant.

Water is leaking from freezer into lower compartment of kenmore

If you think it is the ice maker then shut down the water supply and see if the leak stops. Most likely though it is probably a blocked defrost drain.
