Sorry, no help for you after doing both a roll back and a reformat. This is what has driven professionals to a 3-2-1 backup solution.
3 backups - 2 onsite(two different parts of the house, business) - 1 off-site. Then you can restore from a backup. Otherwise, restore from optical disk or restore partition(if you didn't format it).

Good Luck.

SOURCE: Computer does not recognise Hard Drive

Hey guys. I have an answer on how to fix the Trekstor Datastation "Removable Disk" problem.

I also own a Trekstor Datastation 500GB and had the same problem even though it worked for several months then all of a sudden when I tried to hook it up to another computer, it stopped working. It would recognize the USB connection but you could not read the drive as it would say "Removable Disk".

In "Device Manager" it recognizes the drive as Sundata USB2SATA. But what it really should be is "WDC WD50 00AAVS-32ZTB0 USB Device" or something similar to that. For those that are wondering, yes, the hard drive is a Western Digital Hard Drive. Western Digital Caviar to be exact.

Solution: You need to open the cover to the hard drive and reconnect the hard drive to the connector on the board. It's that simple!

It is very loose and this model is not well designed so it can easily come off if you accidentally knock over your hard drive or move it to another location. The hard drive is held in place by screws on a holder where there is room for the screws to slide if the screws are not tight enough.

You'll need a T10 screwdriver bit to remove the cover and a Phillips screwdriver to adjust the hard drive.

NOTE: Doing this will probably voids your warranty but trust me, it works and it's really easy and quick to do. Took me 15 minutes.

SOURCE: Help!! Western digital 500gb external hard drive ticking noise

Yes. This is going to sound strange. Put the drive in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer. Next day, take it out, hook it up, and see if it is recognized.

If so, under My computer, right click on the drive - click Properties - then Tools, then Error Checking. Check box Automatically Fix File System Errors. Let it run. If everything shows up, be ready to transfer wnat you want off of it.

Freezing shrinks the metal parts . Microscopically, but often enough to get stuck parts free enough to get working.

I just went through this with a 750Gig Book. now i have reformatted the drive (after transferring all over to new drive) and the clicking is gone and all disk checks are fine and i wonder whether to trust this device ever again... Hate to just throw out a large drive.

SOURCE: my external hard drive is corrupt, i want my data back.

Dear,
Data can be recover but the drive must be accessible by OS. As you write windows vista says drive is not accessible and that the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.Do one thing try the same drive at another PC. If it run on that PC copy the data to that PC. Now format the drive and paste the same data back to your drive. But, if same thing happend then there are chances of fault in the driveand for this you shuld visit to the service cetre but, they are not responsible for the data.

Thanks & regards,
Rakesh Kumar

SOURCE: WD320GB hard drive not working

Are you using a double power USB cable, which normally comes with W/D hard drives?

Also if the light on hard drive blinks the drive is not getting enough power from the USB port.

All the best!

SOURCE: How to recover data from an undetected 500gb hard disk drive?

If the HDD is not detecting in the BIOS then It’s seems like to be a firmware issue on this particular series of HDD
for Model: ST3500620AS Firmware: SD15 Barracuda 7200.11 500GBytes

The one & ultimate way is to contact the nearest seagate center in your location to get the data back up & if your drive is under warranty then mostly it will be free of cost. (Not Sure about it)

Hi I have a 2tb ext hard drive which was working fine on my soniq tv. Somehow the tv formatted/reformatted the hard drive and now none of the files work.. can't even read any of the file headings as they...

The file database on the hard drive is probably corrupted. (Formatting would have wiped out the database completely.)You would need to find a compatible disc utility to repair the database. If the computer to which you connect the drive is able to write to the drive, its disk utility program will probably work.

You can probably identify the file system on the hard drive by getting volume info (part of "Properties") in a file browser window. For more information on file system compatibility, see the article linked below.

Cant i get the image on the old hard disk to download?

Use getbackdata for windows
Advanced Data Recovery Software Programs to Get Back Deleted Data

reformat that drive again first and important is to set your partition active to the drive letter exact to what it was before it must be FAT or NTFS with the same active partyitionscheme as before use the getbackdata to recover an image of the output to a clean harddisk with some larger data storage external on your computer for the data output.
If not formatted you cannot get the images from it important how it was formatted is the most important thing reformatting will not destroy the data but will match the program how to handle the data to recover , beware never do not set the output to the same drive where you recover the data from .

IF you used linux photorec or dd rescue or other several tools are there to use,

Hi Oscarmegs,
Your data on the hard drive are lost due to physical damage. But don't worry, you can recover data from hard drive with data recovery software.I have succeed with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash, physical damage, system sabotage etc.
Anyway, download a trial version and scan your hard drive for free to preview whether your files can be recovered. http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm

My hard disk has an error and computer cannot boot. what should i do?

first, recover your files. You can recover files with file recovery software like asoftech data recovery. download the software from
http://download.cnet.com/Asoftech-Data-Recovery/3000-2248_4-75328850.html?part=dl-75328850&subj=dl&tag=button

I've had to use it many times in the past but in this case you need to plug that drive into another system as an external drive or slave drive and run the software from there. It will rebuild the drive and hopefully recover the files.

After you get back your files, you can then format the drive and reinstall your system.

My precious files...

If you have not written anything to the disk since you accidentally formatted it I can recover all your files for you. If you wrote any files to it some of the files will be ruined. I have FBI forensic software that can do what you need and more. Rate this fixya and post an e-mail address and I will get the software to you.

Samsung sp2004c drive failure

My guess is that your hard drive is corrupted. If you have any extra hard drives (external or internal), try replacing your current hard drive with that one, and see if that works. If it does, you may have to take your Hard Drive to a computer shop to have it recovered.

If that doesn't work, then something corrupted your operating system. I would re-install the operating system (reformat may not be necessary, but is always better than just a reinstall, although you do lose all of your information during a reformat), and then try.
