My problem was the overload reset. After working with it a little i got it to reset and the unit has worked well since.

I have a 31-255X type 2. Go tohttp://www.toolpartsdirect.com/delta-too... to order new parts for your machine. Delta has some errors in their parts lists for these drum sanders. I thought my motor was bad and ordered a new one since it was 3 years old. The old motor is good since the new one didn't work either. I traced it down to the rheostat, ref # 150 on your parts list. The toolsdirect website didn't list part 150 on all model parts lists. What I need is part no 911609 DC SPEED CONTROLLER. Yours may be bad too. It costs about $50.

Write back on this board to clarify the problem. Does the motor hum or is it warm? If you loosen the left and right belt tightening screws will the drive pulley on the front of the table turn?

The DC drive motor (1/50 HP) quit after 3 years of use. The main 115v AC motor is fine. I ordered a new DC drive motor and when I plugged it into the cable socket, I got no power. I looks like the circuit board is at fault. I checked it and there are no loose connections. This machine works fine and I have used mine every other day for 3 years. How did you resolve your problem?

Normal 0 The last paragraph of the usurers manual points out the DC drive motor reset button for the DC circuit breaker. If you tighten the conveyor belt too tight with the left and right adjusting screws that DC breaker will trip. You must loosen the two adjusting screws ½ turn or more and push the white reset button just above the speed control knob.

Did the DC drive give you a fault code? It may have tripped on a current over load. Needs to be set to handle load.

Replace the drive belt

Do you mean replacing the cutter head drive belt?

With power off start the ribbed belt on the motor pulley, insert allen wrench into cutter head shaft. slowly rotate cutter head while feeding belt onto cutter head pulley. While rotating head, alternate between pulleys feeding it on one rib at a time. Softening the belt in hot water is NOT necessary to install the belt in this fashion.

Delta 31-250 saander dc drive motor doesn't work

You have probably tripped the breaker for the drive motor. If you have the manual, it shows you the location of the reset button on pg. 20. The reset is a small white button above the drive switch. You can download the manual from this link: http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=10&ved=0CG8QFjAJ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.redmond-machinery.com%2FManuals%2FDelta%2FDelta%252031-250%2520-%2520OM.pdf&ei=VfcfUba3FYeXyAHGrYFI&usg=AFQjCNGcOLvprmIo_af4ofEd10DBnJ7ocQ&bvm=bv.42553238,d.aWc

My delta sander stalls while sanding on the belt.

Mine was underpowered from the get go. I have since sold it. Keeping it well lubricated does help though.

Older 31-125 model. Disc doesn't stick to machine well. Also would like to find a manual for it.

Found you a parts breakdown at Dewaltservicenet.com but no online user manual. On the Dewalt site use the - between number for it to come up.

Sander failure when using honda generator

If you are using a 220 volt 4 hp floor sander, which is 95% of all floor sanders. you CANNOT use a generator less than a 25KV, which is about the size of a van. All Floor sanders draw over 80 amps at start up and during floor sanding all sanders run around 25 amps. If your motor is a Capactor style motor you can do detrimental damage to the motor. Many of my customers have done it in the past.
