Why is wiring harness getting hot when cables are installed on new battery?

the harness is getting hot because of excessive current draw in a wire in the harness
This indicates a fuse of the wrong amperage in a slot because the fuse is designed to blow before the wires get hot.

Installing an after market radio harness but do not have a solid orange lead to connect out of the factoryharness

Most after market radios has a wiring diagram and the wires are tagged, but are wired the same, you should have two hot wires, one will be hot (12 volts) all the time for memory and the other will only be hot with the switch on. you can check with a test light, make sure your black wire is grounded. hope this helps.

Have a 86 camaro with a 2.8 engine installed but cant rember where the wires reconnect from the wire harness. These wies have ring eye lets on them.

Are the wires harnessed together? Is there a connector on the end? Colours are decipherable on a chart. Is cold wire hot when ignition set to acc or on? Was there an aftermarket piece there before?

How do i wire a sidecar to a 2003 fatboy

The only thing there is to wire is a tail light and a stop light. tap into the wires running under your rear fender going to the tail light assembly. Turn on the switch, and test the two wires. One will be hot, this should be the tail light. Go to the other wire, it should be "cold", step on the brake pedal and it goes hot. This is the brake light wire. Use those crimp on splicers like they use to wire trailers on cars with. Put the splicers on the sub harness going to the tail light not the main harness. That way, if the wire is damaged, you can buy a sub harness much cheaper than a main harness and it's a LOT easier to put on.

Good Luck

Radio wire harness cut

You can buy a kit from a number of sources to solve this problem. Instructions come with the kit. If you are putting a stock radio back in go to a junk yard and cut the loom out of another truck and marry it to your truck. If you don't want to do either of these things the fat red wire is almost always hot. The antenna cable is unique and will only fit in one spot. the speaker wires are small diameter and will work no matter which way you hook them up as long as one hot (speaker) wire and one ground wire go to each speaker. Have fun.

No spark or fuel 1991 dodge dakota even if i hot wire the coil no spark i hot wired the fuel pump got gas to throttle body but when you give it full throddl no gas to moter.

I know it's a long shot without looking at it or more information. Look under the hood on the left (drivers) side center of the fender at the wire harness. The one inch diameter or so wire harness running along the fender. Look for any green spots or even open the harness up a bit to look. The ASD relay wire runs through that harness. I've found a few corroded in two with the same symptoms. I think the washer bottle may be over the harness, not sure. Like I said, it's a long shot. I hope this helps.
