Question about Kenmore Elite Oasis 27052 Top Load Washer

Turned washer on side to replace part. now makes loud noise and basket wabbles when spinning. how does triangular part fit under tub? This may be off and not in place correctly. Also two what appear to be pins are to be in what position?

If you lay it on it's back the 2 sides og the triangle face forward,also look at the pads under the triangle to make sure there good,the pins you see are for shipping purpose only-mike

When the machine starts to spin, a loud thumping noise starts.It sounds like it's hitting against the tub from underneath.The tub isn't off balance.we looked under it, didn't see anything broken.

Normal use will create wear on the coupling and eventually the drive forks may slip and cause a vibrating noise. Most models will require you to remove the cabinet to access the drive coupler. Disconnect power from the appliance before attempting any repairs.

In a transmission lock up the holes get enlarged in the rubber isolator and the studs break off the motor and transmission couplers. This is usually caused by the abrupt motor reversal between the agitate and pump out functions. If you hear a loud bang every time the motor reverses, the coupler is getting loose. An obvious sign of a failed coupler is a pile of black rubber shavings under the washer. If the motor runs and the agitate and spin functions don't work, the studs may have broken off the coupler (old coupler design) or the coupler may have broken at the shaft (new design) and you need a new coupler kit. The coupler can also just crack around its center hole allowing it to slip on the motor or transmission shaft hampering those functions.

The shock absorbers or struts are attached to the base frame and to the outer tub and you will need to remove the front panel or the rear panel to access them. When shock absorbers weaken or become damaged, the machine will often make a loud banging sound during the spin cycle and if the symptom is not corrected, can lead to damage of other components. Inspect the shocks for signs of broken attachments, leaked fluids or a weakened dampening action and replace both shocks if worn. Remove power from the appliance before attempting this repair.

Some models of top-load washers use tub dampening straps to cushion the movement of the tub during the spin cycle. There are four straps attached to the top of the tub and to each corner of the cabinet

Also There are four suspension rods that suspend the tub and allow the tub to free float. If the suspension rods are noisy, there will be a squeaking noise during wash. You can fix this by putting bearing (lithium base) grease in the cup that each rod rests in. If it continues to squeal replace all four rods the cups come with the rods, replace them as well.

Sometimes simply tightening the bolts will fix your issue but if the bolts are stripped out get some bolts slightly longer than the original bolt to allow you to put a locking nut on the bottom side of the mounting plate. If the weight is broken replace it.

Another noise issue can arise from a worn SNUBBER RING on some washers that have a snubber like some Maytags, if u notice tiny pc's of white/grey shavings on the floor or around the bottom washer area? A sign of bad snubber. When removing to replace be careful as the spring underneath is pressure loaded.

A very similiar sound can be produced when the belt is worn but the difference is that a snubber noise can be produced during the spin cycle or when the cycle has finished and the spin tub is coasting to a stop. A worn belt noise can only be produced while the motor is actively engaged in spinning the spin tub. If it is discovered that the belt is worn and the base has black, shredded belt residue then it may not necessary to clean it out (belt residue generally will not cause a problem with the snubber). It will be necessary however, to find the cause of the belt failure.


Lastly Washer vibration can be caused by a broken counter balance spring. Ur washer may be equipped with one or more counter balance springs which help to absorb the natural movement of the spinning tub. If a counter balance spring fails the tub might lean in one direction more than another and it will shake and cause vibration.

If it gets loose, the pulley drops and the teeth no longer have good contact with the teeth of the splutch basket drive gear in spin mode. The solution is application of blue locktite to the threads of the input shaft. There have also been a lot of failures of the actuator that operates the cam ring of the splutch which raises and lowers the basket drive gear. It is raised for agitate mode and lowered for spin. There is a spring between the basket drive gear and the gearcase housing that maintains pressure on the basket drive gear. There are cams on the cam ring that ride up and down on cams in the splutch cam (housing) as it is rotated by the actuator thus raising and lowering the basket drive gear. The gearcase has a planetary gear set in it.
One Way To Test For Spin Bearing Noise Is To Lift Up Top Part Of Machine With The Lid Taped Down, Explained Below, Put It In Spin Cycle, AndQuicklyPlace The Palms Of Your Hand Inside Of Basket Pushing Against Opposite Ends In The Basket To Stop It From Turning, Yes It Can Be Done Because It Takes A While Before It Starts Spinning At Full Speed, If Noise Has Gone Away, Its Your Spinner Bearing. Do Not Repeat Until You Stopped The Machine And Start Over Again. The Same Kind Of Noise Can Also Be A Bad Water Pump, Which Are Known To Fail And Have Since Been Redesigned, But That Noise Will Be Heard In Spin And Agitate Mode, And The Noise Will Have A Higher Pitch Sound, More Like A Screeching Sound.

Rear Tub Bearing Replacement
(Part 1 of 3)

This advice is for replacing the rear wash tub shell of most Kenmore Elite HE model FRONT LOADERS, along with Whirlpool Duet, and some Frigidaire FRONT LOADER models. This is a repair that would be rated as difficult due to the extensive disassembly and reassembly of components.

The requirement to replace the rear wash tub shell is usually attributed to the rear tub bearing failure in which the bearings are molded into the tub and cannot be replaced otherwise. In some situations the replacement of the inner spinner basket (stainless steel tub) may also be required due to the corrosion and breakage of the spider arms in the back of the basket that support the basket.

SYMPTOMS: Washer exhibits excessively loud “rumbling” type noise during the spin cycle, excessively vibrates, or won’t spin at all.

DETERMINING IF THE BEARING AND SPIN BASKET ARE BAD: With the washer door open, place your hand inside the basket and push straight up. If there is excessive play in the tub (wobbles up and down) the bearing is probably bad. If the spinner basket scrapes against the outer tub shell when you give it a spin, you will have to replace the inner spin basket as well. Unfortunately, you cannot see the condition of spinner basket supports until it is removed from the outer tub shells. In some cases, a brownish colored stain my show up on clothing as the bearing seal has been breached and leaks into the spinner basket.

Before starting this repair, make sure you read through all instructions thoroughly and place the washer is in an area that gives you plenty of space to work.

I have a LG WM3987HW combo washer dryer that is also making the roaring noise on spin cycle

My maytag performa pav 2300 is making a loud noise while its spinning. Sounds like metal on metal. Its working fine. Its just that noise. We just got a new motor yesterday. What could be the problem ?...

On this model washer the noise is most likely caused by a worn washer tub seal assembly. remove agitator (nut on the top under cap), spin basket and tub assembly. remove seal and install new one.

Maytag Neptuen Washer makes loud noise when spinning. Sounds like an airplane taking off.


The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle.Get the spin bearing and motor checked.Replace the faulty. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com

Suspension plate


Hi,

The suspension plate should be loose and float between the frame and base. The pin you saw was a shipping pin, they usually are caught in a little plastic cup attached to the base but sometimes fall to the floor, this is normal too. The tub being loose is normal for the top, it is held down by the springs below the tub but nothing on top. By a loud noise, what kind of noise is it? If it is a very loud ratcheting noise when it slows down then the basket drive(spin tube) and block need to be replaced. If it is a growling noise then that is pump and may be normal if the basket is not spinning. If this is the case look very close for an article of clothing caught between the tub and basket.

we've got this exact washer. we had a very similar sound/problem. it turn out to be the shock absorbers. easy replacement. under $100.

you have a bad tub seal asm. remove agitator, spin basket and tub asm. remove seal and install new one. good luck

Rear bearing noise when drum rotates


If the rear bearing is bad it will require the replacement of the entire rear tub shell. This is because the bearing is molded into the plastic and cannot be replaced separately (I know, its a stupid design). Sometimes additional damage can occur and the inner spin basket and front shell may also need replaced. In addition, what may seem like a bad rear bearing, might be a broken tub support on the spin basket. In a nutshell, you may have to replace both tub shells and spin basket at a minimum. With parts and labor the repairs could cost $600-$800. If you have no extended warranty or service plan coverage, it may not be worth the effort to repair due to the excessive cost. Sorry...I wish I had better news for you. I hopes this provides you with some answers.
