Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

My company has an HP laserjet 5500 printer. We ran out of yellow toner and did not order a spare. The machine keeps flashing 'out of/replace yellow toner'. We do not have the manual readily available. We thought we could go through the menu and bypass the yellow and print our documents in greyscale or in black. But nothing attempted is allowing us to print. We tried shutting the machine off..to no avail. It is Sunday morning and we need documents printed for our payroll. Our backup printer broke last week.

I do not believe you can get around the yellow toner, in the startup self diagnostic it checks all of the toners, and will not proceed if it has an error. Go to a big box store and either get your toner or a low end grayscale laser printer, sorry I could not be more helpful.

My printer Hp Color laserjet 2840 is given an Incorrect yellow initially, after i bought the catridge it is telling me of 52.4 error how to go about it.

Take the cartridge out and reseat it. If you bought a compatible toner I would order an OEM HP brand toner. These machines don't work well with compatibles.

Tip

Toner Waste Collections

If you need to print and you don't have a spare Toner Waste Collector, take the old one out and find the small lever/door, place over a trash can, open the lever/door and shake it back and forth. Of course you will want to buy a new one at some point. This is another good printer/copier supply that is good to keep on hand at all times.

If you mean toner, you can probably do it, but most new printers have a memory chip on the cartridge which keeps track of toner. Adding toner will not change the count and the printer will ignore the new toner

My boss want to replace the black ink cartridge for one that prints color. Can this be done with the HP 12-a cartridges? HP Laser jet 1022

Unfortunately laser printers don't work this way. The laserjet 1022 was designed for black and white prints only. In order to do color printing with a laser printer you will need to purchase one that is designed to print in color. The laser printers work a bit differently than the inkjets - the laser printers have 4 toner cartridges, one each for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, that work together to print a full color page. With the old inkjets you could just replace a black cartridge with a color one.

So, short answer: Sorry but no you can't make a laserjet 1022 print in color. :)

I would recommend looking at an entry level color laser printer from hp, such as the CP2025 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF25a/18972-18972-3328060-15077-236268-3673580.html) if you are looking into purchasing a color laserjet.

Hope this helps

Are you using HP toner?
Pull out the cartridges and vacuum out the printer. Get a compressor or canned air and blow the printer out. Vacuum again,
Install HP toner and try printing again.

Make sure your using OEM toners. My best guess would be DC controller or high voltage board.

HP Laserjet 1300 yellow light STILL flashing

Re-installing the print driver will not solve a flashing light. If the printer is functionally ok, it will come to ready simply by plugging into the wall. It sounds to me like a fatal error at this point.....could be a long list of things, but I would lean towards a formatter board. bottom line with this printer at this point in it's life is, if it doesn't work, it's not worth fixing. Replaceable for about $100.

Push the button to align another color and open the door and take notes on where the carousel should be when changing a toner, Not sure why it would bypass yellow altogether but may be resolved by manually changing out the yellow. When you open the door to the toner compartment there should be something on the door that depresses something in the machine which will unlock the carousel and allow you to turn it by hand when you depress the same lever with some type of tool that will fit in the slot. Rotate the carosel until the yellow is where it should be when replaceing it then let go of the locking mechanism and replace the yellow toner. hopefully between changing the toner out and powering the machine off/on will get you back in business... Hope this helps you out and if it does please list as a fixya... if not, you may need to upgrade the firmware and that's not to hard if your on the network already...
