I have a Bosch SHY56A05UC/14 dishwasher. The upper feed tube assembly keeps disconnecting from the base. I can easily push it back in place, but when it pops out during a wash the upper disses do not come clean. Why is this happening and how can I keep it from popping out. I have checked the upper arm to make sure there are no blocks.

It sounds like you have a model that has a pot washer cycle that blocks water flow to those arms. What cycles are on your keypad? Sounds like you have it set or single rack wash

It seems other posts were correct - The upper arm doesn't spin all the time. Once I learned that, and let the dishwasher cycle through, I saw that the upper arm does spin. So, there wasn't a problem with the upper arm afterall. That doesn't solve my crusty dishes problem, but that may have something to do with the soap we're using. We're going to try changing that next.

It goes down into the lower wash tower / tube, the tabs that hold it in might be broken

Hello,
Welcome to FixYa.
If you align the spray arm to the section of the upper rack which it fastens to, as shown here...
Then place it against the holder and turn, it should grab the holder, unless something else has broken...but it should be that simple.
This is the official explanation from Bosch below...
Hopefully that will help you move forward and answer you question. Let me know if you need any further assistance, otherwise good luck.
Thanks for visiting FixYa.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)
