My Smeg dishwasher DF410BA has a problem

I switched it on last night and noticed that it took longer than usual to complete the cycle. Also it was making this noise as if it was pumping water out but no water was coming out. I have tried to reset the machine back from factory settings back as soon as i switch it on this water pumping noise keeps coming on. Can anyone help. Andy

This is usually the heating element - corrosion lets small amounts of water through the element jacket, making the mineral insulation inside slightly damp. When the machine applies power to the element, enough current leaks from live to earth to trip the RCD. In the absence of a proper electrician's insulation tester (a DVM in ohms mode doesn't test at a high enough voltage to give a meaningful result) the best way to prove this fault is to (carefully, and with the power off!) disconnect and tie back the wires that go to the element, then run the machine and see if it gets any further in the cycle. SOURCE: Smeg DI 409CA Dishwasher - Doesn't wash properly, tablet doesn't desolve and cycle lasted all night

Hi,

The first thing is have a look at the instruction manual from HERE

If the dishwasher is not washing properly then please follow these steps:

  1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
  2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
  3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
  4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
  5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
  6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
  7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
As you said that the water builds up at the bottom see If it comes out 'foamy' then liquid dish soap is getting introduced into the dishwasher. Liquid dish soap is different than automatic dishwasher detergent. liquid dish soap needs to be COMPLETELY rinsed from anything that has been pre-soaked prior to putting in the dishwasher. after a couple of regular cycles the foam will go away. Nowadays liquid dish soap is also 'concentrated' or 'ultra concentrated' which doesn't help.

If further this does not solve your problem the the only solution is to get it repaired.

Goodluck..

SOURCE: NO WATER COMING THROUGH ON DISHWASHER JUST LOUD BUZZING NOISE

The buzz that you hear is the water line solenoid. It probably is not opening up to let the water through. You should replace this solenoid and it will fix your problem as long as you have water coming up to the diswasher's solenoid valve.

My smeg Module DF 612 SDX7 dishwasher tripped the circuit last night early into its cycle. We could smell burning coming from the dishwasher. Any ideas and what we can do to fix it?

If you can get it to operate for a few seconds, that will at least tell whether the motor is still good and turns freely. Otherwise it sounds like board may have failed.

Good luck!

Hi I have a SMEG D1612CA9 intergrated dishwasher. Last night during the cycle the pump which takes the water away has remained on stopping the cycle continuing. The first light has come on and whenever you...

Hi
You need to disconnect the power and the hoses.
Also unsrew the machine from the cabinet to pull it out.
When you have pulled the machine out, put some towls on the floor and tilt machine on its back. You will notice a lot of water come out the base of the machine.
This will reset the flood switch which has been triggered.
Reconnect the hoses while the machine is out and run a cycle. You have a water leak so you need to find out where the leak is from. In Smeg dishwashers, the most common item is a burst drain hose. Normally where it comes out the back of the machine, the hose bends and tears as it pushes against the back wall.
Remove the from kick panel and look inside the base for leaks while machine is running.

Detergent dispenser on SMEG DWF 44SS1 doesn't open during cycle - any ideas?

this is Usually caused by a tablet sticking in the Detergent Dispenser. This will stop the Detergent Dispenser from opening at the correct time on the wash cycle.

Dishwasher does not complete the cycle

Repair guy came out and after an hour of taking things to bits and not finding a leak , we managed to identify the problem as originating from a faulty door seal at the top door lock ( it was ever so slightly dented in/warped) which had caused the water to track through the door lock down into the machine and trip the electrics after 30 minutes in the cycle. He'd never heard of this happening before - just my luck!!
Door seal replaced and ( so far) everything working fine.
