Unplugged monitor and got the same condition: not able to turn on again. also noticed that I wasn't able to turn the monitor off previously, so I'm thinking that the buttons were faulty.

Order new capacitors and replace. I had the same problem with mine and with $4 and a soldering iron I got mine back up and running.

Check for monitor repairs...

Why is my Dell Monitor Blank

If you have another computer, try and see if you can hook it up to that and test it. If it still doesn't work it may be dead.

A power outage cause dell server 1600sc to shut down & no display on the monitor

Hello here is the homepage.

There should at least be a message on the monitor indicating there is no signal coming to the monitor. The first thought that comes to mind if all is connected would be that the power supply has failed.
And maybe the graphic card.

Call also the DELL support in your country they will be glad to help
and they probably know the fault.

We had a power outage at my shop and now my Dell e171fp monitor will not power up. No light near on button and monitor is black. Switched to known good pwr cable and monitor still blank.

This generally is not good news, when the power comes back on it peaks causing the damage in it's wake. The power supply has been compromised and if you are very lucky you might get away with a fuse change. The monitor will need to be dis-assembled to assess the situation and hopefully it will start back up with minimal repairs. The fuse should be located near the power cord going into the circuit board.

Dell E171FP Monitor goes black after 2 secs

Hi, I don't think the problem is with your monitor. Your monitor sounds like it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. The monitor is supposed to turn off if there's no cable attached, which means there's no signal input. When the screen goes black, does the power light stay on and turn orange? or does it go off as well? I would recommend that you lower your screen resolution to 1280x1024 or lower in the Display Properties window, then remove your primary monitor, and connect the monitor to your desktop computer. You should see it light up when connected. The monitor auto-senses when there's a computer attached to the cable and when there's a signal. If it doesn't see a signal, it goes black to save power.

Dell flat pannel monitor fail to power up after power outage

rtutt, First, before you start to tear apart the monitor any further, take pic's (close-ups) of screws, cables and their positions BEFORE detaching them from their board mounted jacks. Second, the fuse will be a small pigtail type soldered to the power supply board. It's the board that will have the connector on it that the line cord plugs into from outside the plastic cover. This is Pretty neat for you because if you forget where something goes, you can always open up another monitor. Well if you get the steel shield cover removed (BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO RIP OFF ANY CABLES OR MULTI CONDUCTOR RIBBON FLEX CABLES) the cables can then be popped off. you can probably catch a video of monitor tear-down on by doin a search on LCD repair. Yes I have seen some that are 8 to 12min long on the tube. Also you will be visually checking all large electrolytic capacitors for SWOLLEN tops of their aluminum can. You will need a large magnifying glass to inspect the solder side of the board for circular hairline fractures around the leads of heavy and larger "through-hole components, that have been thermally/mechanically STRESSED over the years. they will need to be resoldered. Well any way, keep me posted of your progress. Im louie12fix or lmistyrel@ PS: I have dell and will take pic's of board!!

I have A "Dell" E152FPc, and I have found an open transistor (Q201) on the Power Supply Board. My monitor comes on nice and bright for approximately 2 seconds, then goes dark; the power LED is steady. The voltage to the PWM IC is waky.
Before you try any hardware troubleshooting go to your control panel and turn off any power management options.

If it's going into powersave mode, it usually means it's not getting a signal from the video card. Try plugging this monitor into another machine or laptop and you should be able to tell if that's the issue.
