You can make the router working even without using the CD. Who is your ISP? Are you having concern with wired or wireless connection?

How to connect to desktop

In my experience, you very rarely actually need the disk for the router to connect another computer.
If you're using an ethernet connection (since you say desktop) you should just be able to run it to the computer. Make sure your computer has its NIC drivers installed (in all likelihood that's not a problem) and give the computer a good reboot and that's that.
If you're connecting wirelessly, using Windows you can open your network connections via the control panel. Right click your wireless adapter and connect using windows. If you need the wireless SSID/Security Key or anything else, you can get that using any computer already working with the router by logging into the DLink
If you're using a USB connector to connect, you'll want the CD for that.

The netgear router installation will set up the internet connection during install.
Download the Router driver from netgears website and install on the computer/s then your up and running.
it appears you wireless card is seeing the router so just install the drivers and your set.

I bought a Belkin N Wireless Router F5D8236-4 v2 and changed my internet provider a few months later and I have lost the Installation CD, can I install it without the CD?

Yes you simply need to hook up via an Ethernet cable, open a browser type in the routers address, login with username and password, and then you can edit any setting you like. Then when finished you save settings and reboot router.

Cannot connect to the internet

Reboot your modem, then reboot your new router.

The rebooting is an essential process of installing a new piece of hardware to a modem.

When your modem boots up it leases an IP Address to the MAC Address of the first connected piece of hardware (router in your case). If you switch hardware without rebooting, your modem will not recognize the new piece of hardware because it has a different MAC Address. Every piece of hardware has its own MAC Address, unless it has been cloned.

The only light on my router is the router light. No other lights are coming on. I have tried rebooting.

When facing the router, Globe/Internet LED is on the right. Below are the LED indicators; Check the steps below:

Wireless Security - This light will only turn on if the wireless security is enabled.

Wireless-Computer Status - This light will turn on if a wireless computer is connected to the router.

Wired-computer Status - This light will turn on if a wired computer is connected to the router. Connect the wired computer to any gray port on the router. (There are 4 gray ports).

Router Status - Power light. Solid blue means the router is on and ready.

Modem Status - If this is off, it means the router is not connected to the modem. Make sure the cable is connected from the modem to the yellow port on the router.

Internet Status - This light will indicate if the router is connected to the internet.

If this is the first time you are installing the router, then what is important is to get the router, wired-computer and modem lights ON. Once they are on, you may insert the CD that came with the Belkin router to setup the internet connection and wireless settings.

I would hold down the reset button, usually located on the back, for 10 or more seconds. This will perform a master reset.

DWL2000AP+ install

Whats the exact problem does it not connect at all?

Most routers don't need a disk to install anything.

Just plug everything in go to START click CONTROL PANEL go to NETWORK CONNECTION see if you have any connection at all. If you do your router could be blocking incoming data from the internet or other computers connected.

However in doing some research in your stated problem i did find drivers. They can be downloaded at the link below.

This may not be what you need but let me know and i'll try to find what you are actually looking for.
