It sounds like it is time to pull the head and take it to the shop for repair. They can pinpoint wear and will usually do the repairs in the store for a small shop fee or just the cost of parts. It sounds like an "A" frame kit and gear box. Other things can be worn at the same time.

Interesting question. Do you have the special Lead Hose, the one with a colored cuff attached to the Navigator itself? Other causes can be, too little or too much hose, a pinhole leak in one of the hoses above water causing the hoses to float, not enough suction on the Navigator. You didn't say if you have the Navigator plugged into a skimmer or in a dedicated suction port in the wall. I would first try increasing the suction to the unit and see if your problem doesn't go away.

Hose getting twisted

It could be a steering error that is causing it to tangle the hose. Try these suggestions first. Check and clean the rear screen. Make sure that you cone gear is free and rotates smoothly. Also check your turbine and spindle gear assembly. You will also want to try readjusting your return lines to redirect your cleaner. A common problem with these pool cleaners is that the return lines are directing them to circle, causing the hose to tangle. Finally, make sure that you are storing the hose in a NON-coiled position. If you coil the hose, it will cause it to be permanently bent and interrupt movement. If you have done this, lay the hose out flat in the sun for a few hours to help mold it to the original pattern.

My pool vaccum cleaner moves slowly

With these pool cleaners, there are several things you need to check if they are moving slowly. Use your water flow gauge to check and make sure you have proper water flow. Adjust the flow if necessary. Check for worn shoes and wings and replace them if necessary. Make sure that you don't have a blockage in the navigator throat that could cause sluggish movement.

I HAVE HAYWARD NAVIGATOR POOL CLEANER. MY HOSE TWIST UP WHEN IN USE.

With these pool cleaners, it might not be the hose. It could be that your cleaner head has water and is floating, causing the hose to tangle. Check for that problem. If not, it could be that your hose is too long for the pool size that you have. You might need to remove sections on the hose to shorten it.

Hose gets twisted all of the time Have replaced almost everything

Try laying the hose out on the ground and stretching it out as straight as you can get it. Let if sit this way in the sun for several hours. You might have a warp in the hose material that is causing these tangles. Allowing it to sit stretched in the sun for several hours will help. Also, try readjusting your return lines. They could be interfering with the pool cleaners pattern and causing the cord to become tangled.

Hayward Navigator moves very very slowly. Pool Filter cartrage is clean & I have replaced the shoes, flippers, flaps & impeller bearings. Also tried different hose. Pressue on hose is about 12 to...

Make sure to keep the leaf canister and pump basket clear. Another thing to check is; make sure the screws that hold on the pods(the "flippers" on the sides) are Really tight. Those need to be cranked down pretty hard to ensure that they can move the cleaner along.

Hayward navigator model #925CS keeps tipping on it's side.

Mine did the exact same thing. It's the hose that connects to the navigator. Replace it!! Problem solved.

The Header Hose becomes brittle and won't bend properly which causes the Navigator to tip on the side or backwards.

My advise is to replace all the hoses. If the header hose is bad so are the rest of them.

Hayward Navigator Pool Cleaner Will Not Move

The problem is that you have too much play in your drivetrain. You will need to check for movement between the pod and the a-arm and then between the a-arm and turbine. It would also be a good idea to check the turbine bearings. Find the loose fitting, worn part and that is your problem. As far as it not twisting on the end of the hose; this is most likely caused by the screen on the back of the unit being obstructed by debris or the gearbox assembly being jammed by debris that got through the screen or is just worn out. If you have any mechanical abilty you shoud be able to do these repairs yourself with the help of a downloadabe exploded diagram. If not call a pool repairman the parts are not really that expensive compared to the cost of a new unit.
