It's best if you contact a TV specialist to repair it. Once the plasma TV's develop problems, it is no longer a joke. Only thing you can do is send it away for repair. You cannot do it unless you have specific knowledge and special tools besides a soldering iron, pliers and skills. I have an LG Plasma TV. Early last June it had exploded twice. It killed the TV. I sent it away for repair. Then 3 weeks after it got repaired it exploded again. The latest bang was last Sunday (29-6-14), fusing the whole house. I found out why it had happened. I had my Sony Vaio Notepad connected to the TV via an HDMI cable, the same as last time, and the TV made a loud bang. Last time it made a loud bang but didn't fuse out the house, The TV just destroyed itself. This time the TV survived the burnout but fused the house and I was left in the dark to fix the fuses. When I switched the fusebox back on, the TV automatically turned itself on, but I had already removed the notebook. So, I guess Plasma TV's cannot accept HDMI signal from computers. It makes the TV run too hot, as explained by the TV technician but I am not sure. I am still trying to contact LG to question whether this is a possibility that connection of a computer to a TV via a HDMI ports causes the TV to increase its temperature. We are in Winter. perhaps it was my heating system.
You did not say why your TV had malfunctioned. Did you connect a computer or any peripheral that could have upset the TV? If so, prease state what it was connected. It helps understand your case better. So, best bet is to have it repaired by a qualified technician.

Hi there
I would go to menu on the remote , from there to picture go down the list, if you do not find anything there to help you. Go to Support and to the E manual .

Not sure it is a transistor. May be bad caps in fisrs or secondary power supply. contact mfg of transitors to see if yours is transferable.

Samsung PS-50C91H 50" plasma no picture

If this set has a cable box, satellite box or even a receiver hooked up to it remove power from them and the set for a while and power back to see if a reboot cures this issue.

short of that someone who is willing and knows how to check things is going to have to look inside and test things, repair if not what I have suggested consists of replacing boards which can either fix the set or not and gets expensive.

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.
