Fix a lens on my dmc-fx9

The lens on my panasonic dmc fx9 is stuck out and will not retract. there is a clicking noise as the camera tries to zoom out or close when i turn it off but the camera itself still turns on just fine. I want to do this myself, do you have any suggestions to get the lens to work again? thank you

Camera lens wont retract; makes clicking noise. Keeps saying to turn camera off then back on but nothing changes.

I have this same problem with this camera any help would be appreciated. I see that it could be a gear problem but when this broke on me the first time it seemed like it might be sliding in and out slightly out of line and holding it in place fixed it (lasted 5 months)

My Panasonic Lumix dmc-fx9 appears to be broke since the lens is stuck in the extracted position. I've tried everything other than taking it apart and still remains stuck. The screen says to power camera off then power back on but obviously that doesn't work.

It sounds like you have a gear problem in your lens. If you need some good used parts for your FX9 you may want to contact a guy in South Carolina who has lots of parts for all the Panasonic Cameras at reasonable prices. I think his email is [email protected]

If the lens is jammed in the out position you can try holding the camera firmly and tapping/hitting it against your hand with the camera on. The lens should then retract. If this doesn't work or if you are afraid of dropping it (do it on your bed, that way it doesn't hit the floor if you _do_ drop it), you can drop it on a wood/firm surface from an inch or so up and it should retract the lens. This solution ONLY WORKS IF THE LENS IS JAMMED.

Lens will not retract

It sound like a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse. Good luck!
