Question about Acer AL1914 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Blurry vertical lines

Starting from the left side of my monitor I have blurry vertical sections, about 1/2" wide from the top to the bottom, all the way across. I'm not sure when it started--it just kind of looks like it needs to be cleaned off so I have been ignoring it, but now it's getting worse. The only things I have changed in the past couple of weeks have to do with added hardware. I installed an ATI TV Tuner and I placed my Wii next to the monitor with it's sensor bar on top of the monitor. Could it be electrical interference?

Re: Blurry vertical lines

Try changing the monitors refresh rate setting. I had this same problem and fiddled about with the display setting - I found that my monitor had blurry strips across it and the desktop didn't fit the monitor until I changed the refresh rate to 75hz

This is either your monitor or, more likely, your graphics card telling you it's going to fail soon.
Try another monitor, if that sorts it you're done. If not, it's the video source (graphics card).

Verticle blue lines, left side

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.

I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.

OR, Buy a new one.

Image/screen shifting with mouse position

I realized my issue was that the screen was "slightly" zoomed in using the universal access panel in the system preferences. Turning it off, or zooming out completely solved the problem.

Blurring of images and text

mt, the 6 to 8 lines you were seeing were most likley the prelude to the end of the monitor. If the problem only occurs when the screen saver comes on then I could say the driver maybe being corrupted by a certain screensaver picture or program. When the monitor warms up to a certain temprature the electronics start to fail. You may want to turn off the monitor while your not right in front of it to cool it down and prolong its use.
