Question about Sony Ericsson Walkman® W880i Cellular Phone
My phone switches iteself off several times a day. It's a major pain. I haven't been able to pin down whether it's a software problem or related to the battery contacts. It seems to occur when calls are coming through (ie not overnight). I can't simulate a knock that will switch it off. I've tried all the software upgrades available on-line and it's made no difference.
I know this is a problem for many - what's the solution?
You guys should take out your battery and look beside the contacts. There should be a white sticker. If it's a red sticker or somthing other like that then it means the inside of your phone has been wet. Another potential problem is that it could be the memory card or the back cover. remove the memory card and leave the back cover off. See if there is any piece missing from the back cover and try holding the battery in and seeing if it randomnly turns off then.
As a last resort back up all your fiels and do a master reset. This will clear everything off the phone so make sure you have copied or sended what you want to keep.

I started to have similar problems after owning the phone for over 6 months. The problem seems to be resolved by removing the battery and cleaning the contacts as decribed here: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=146940
