I have a zwd12270w. Seven seconds after pressing the cycle start button, the machine double clicks and stops.

If I press the start button after seven seconds, the machine does not respond to the start button.

The above happens whichever cycle is selected.

The problem is with the tumble drier heating element. If you remove the top of the machine (disconnect it from the electricity supply first!) you will find a big metal oblong "bar" that runs from the front to the rear of the machine. At the rear there are 4 white wires connected to the metal "bar". Make a note of where they go and remove them. You may need pliers to get a good grip of them. Once removed, the washing machine should work just fine but obviously the tumble drier will not. This is a well known fault and it may be worth contacting Zanussi as they MUST know about it!

This has happened to me too, several times infact, very frustrating when u have to wash a number of washes, i had a basic idesit washing machine for years and had not 1 problem, agree with the solution above,- If left alone for a day or 2, then problem solves itself, good luck!

Had this problem and i can confirm a problem with dryer, we had seperate tumble dryer as well as washer dryer, so the engineer just disconnected the dryer part and washes fine! was an electrical fault from dryer!

I have no solution as such. Mine does the same. It has happened twice now following long use of the dryer function.
Both times, the problem has solved itself after a day or so being left. I cannot work out at all why this would be, but it certainly seems to be linked to the use of the dryer.

The orange on/off button lights up. however the start/pause button does not.

It's hard to tell by the way you've phrased the question whether or not the button is doing what it is supposed to do, or if it is just the light indicator that is not working. So, I will answer both scenarios. // Press start button fully until you hear machine start; (usually less than one full second). In other words, hold button in until ''start'' is _heard_. After start has begun, holding button for 3 full seconds will ''pause'' the cycle. After ''pause'' pressing button again (just like first time) will restart cycle (i.e. ''take it off pause''). But while ''paused'' holding the button in again for any longer than a fraction of a second will cancel the wash. // TO CLARIFY: Press button for approx 1 second to start wash. After start has begun, pressing button for 3 seconds will ''pause'' wash. While ''paused'' pressing button again for less than a second (i.e. ''quick press of button'') will ''resume'' wash. Also, while ''paused'', pressing button for longer than a second (usually 3 seconds) will cancel the wash. // If the machine is (otherwise) working correctly, and your complaint is a light not lighting, then it is just a bad LED light. Best bet is leave it alone. Or, you could buy a new switch if the LED is _inside_ the switch. If the LED is on the control panel, then do yourself and big favor and don't mess with it.

Its normal for the machine to cycle the lock before starting its cycle. I'm assuming your machine is a bravos style.

Power to machine but will not start a cycle

If child lock has been activated, all buttons on the control panel except for the power button will be inoperable. Child lock is usually activated by pressing either the [pre-wash] or [tub clean] button for 3 seconds. To deactivate the child lock function, press and hold the same key again for 3 seconds.
Try switching the machine off by pressing the on/off button. Press the same button after a few seconds to restart the machine.

My washer won't start, it keeps flashing ERR and then the wash-time, and then LOC. My roommate says to fix it before, he held down three buttons, but can't remember which ones. Any idea?

Try the following two buttons: press Options and Select together for 10 seconds (or until the LOC disappears). The pair of buttons held for 10 seconds also sets this control lock.

To find out the error code, turn the Program knob to the start position, Spin Only. Press Start/Pause to start the cycle. Press Cancel to stop the cycle and turn off the LEDs. Press Cancel again and within 5 seconds press and hold the Options and Start/Pause buttons until the LEDs start chasing. Then release the buttons. Turn the Program knob seven clicks clockwise from the Start position. The control will signal the last error code. To clear the error, press and hold Options and Start/Pause for 3 seconds. Then either unplug the washer for 5-8 seconds before plugging it back in. Alternatively, press and hold Options and Start/Pause together for a few seconds until the Wash LEDs appear.

http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/frigidaire-electrolux/12950-frigidaire-atf6000es1-wont-drain.html has a link to the service manual for the listed washer (the link is half-way down the page).

I hope this helps.
