Touchpad mouse problem

I have an Acer Aspire 3050-1733. I cannot get the mouse to work. I've reloaded the drivers, I've checked device manager and there are no conflicts anywhere. I can attach an external mouse and things work fine. I've gone into the touchpad configure menu and it is enabled.

It worked one minute and then just stopped. What could I be over looking?

Re: Touchpad mouse problem

I had this trouble and realised that you can lock the mousepad. try unlocking it by holding the blue Fn button along with F7. Hopefully this should work

Re: Touchpad mouse problem

Do you run McAfee? If so did it auto-update right before it went out. Fourth one I've heard of this week all have been after the McAfee auto-update. Happened to me too on my Gateway M505

Have you tried reloading the driver for the mouse?

My Acer Aspire suddenly won't let me work on it EXCEPT with a mouse! Can't use the touch pad -- either the cursor is locked up OR it isn't even visable when I try to use the touch pad. HELP!

Check the switch on the touchpad (ususally a button on the touchpad) to make sure the pad is switched to ON.
If the switch is ON, check the status of the touchpad by going to START>ControlPanel>System>DeviceManager>Mice and other pointing devices
Click on the touchpad and make sure the Device status is "the device is working properly"
If everything checks out, you may have to reload the driver.
Let me know what you find out and we can go from there. Thanks.

My acer mouse stops working after the laptop has been on for about ten minutes, then if you try to move it the screen just zooms in and out

i would go to computer properties
device manager
scroll down to mouse/pointing devices
un install it
then restart the laptop
windows will then hopefully find new hardware when it re starts
and reload the touchpad/mouse correctly

many thanks

Touchpad nor external mouse will work on my acer aspire 1640z

control panel > device manager > scroll down to mice and pointing devices > if touchpad is listed (may be symantic or alps} highlight and click uninstall. Reboot the laptop, windows will be forced to reload the drivers when it recognizes the device. It may ask you if it can search windows update for a fresh driver, allow it to complete the install. reboot

My cursor jumps around in Outlook and also highlights things

Sounds like a hardware problem with your trackpad or your keyboard. I suggest attaching an external mouse and keyboard, then disable the touchpad and keyboard drivers in device manager. Reboot and see if it still happens

Acer aspire touch pad not working

There are many possible fixes. To do some forensic work it would be best to know what was going on when the touch pad stopped working. It could very easily be the driver. You can see if that's it in device manager. Locate your touch pad device there and right-click on the device, choose "update driver".

Some laptops, my Toshiba for instance, have an option to configure the touchpad to disable when it senses a USB mouse or keyboard connecting. I have mine set to disable because when I'm typing on the onboard keyboard and I accidently slightly brush the touchpad, it sends the cursor all over the page and usually I lose everything I just typed.

The problem might also be a matter of a bogus setting in the Service Manager. There are a number of services that are related to your touchpad or mouse.

If you have got a usb mouse plug it into your computer then go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager and go to pointing devices. Right click on the + sign next to keyboard and touchpad, click on uninstall. Then reboot your machine, take the usb mouse out. Windows will reload the correct drivers for the keyboard and touchpad as new hardware and your problem should be resolved.

I hope this helps

I believe your windows is corrupt.
Try to reload your operating system, i have seen the windows corrupted and cause problem like yours.
If you have usb mouse (external), use the usb mouse and you can check in device manager,
I believe you will see many "!" mark on the drivers.

so solution is reload the operating system.
Good Luck

Touchpad mouse problem

ok acer site is not the most helpfull website, even if your mouse is working .
you seem to have checked just about everything ,but here's a thought,

make sure that the touch pad is turned on,a switch just above it, on most laptops, you should also see a light on ,maybe red for off blue for on.

clean the touch pad using a soft damp cloth (not wet) and a little soap ,as it may have become a little greasy.

another option is to use a friend's or family pc to download the driver onto a disc/usb stick,or use the external mouse on your own laptop.

good luck
