No water or soap coming out

I was using the steamer yesterday, for the first 20 minutes or so water and soap came out every time a pulled the trigger, with no problem. after refilling the tank with soap and water, I went to star the vaccum again, it started, but no soap or water came out this time when I pulled the trigger. the lil red indicator that lets you know the filter is working doesn't even move any more. What's causes this, and what's the solution?

Re: No water or soap coming out

The filter could be block under the flow indicator cap,
but water should still come out of the hose

Dirt devil carpet steamer diverter valve not releasing for furniture attachment

Hi there! If the trigger or valve are sticking this can be an indication that the valve may be clogged with soap residue. Try soaking the trigger end in warm water for a few hours. When you use the hose again, be sure to prime the trigger by pumping it about 30 times then squeezing it for 30 seconds to get the solution to flow. Hope this helps!

A friend loaned me her Bissell Proheat Turbo carpet cleaner and I don't know how to use it - any help?

I like these cleaners.

First vacuum your carpet very thoroughly.

Depress the lever to tilt back the handle.
Grab the tank from the base. Remove the lid.
Fill the bladder with hot tap water. Replace the lid, and place tank back into the base. Put the handle back upright until it locks into place.
Take the soap container on the side and fill it with the Bissel soap solution. Place your dial on floor cleaner, and select either soap or heavy traffic.
Turn on the machine and the heater. Take your machine to the far end of the room and depress the handle put the machine in the corner depress the trigger and you will see a little spinning thing on the machine starting to spin - this means that the solution is blending and the spray is wetting the carpet. Pull the machine slowly back towards you about three feet and then let go of the trigger and pull the machine a couple more inches. When you stop the trigger will release. Push the machine forward and repeat the pull pass this time without depressing the trigger. For the next pass - overlap each and every pass (I do each pass at the half way point). Do this along the back wall. When you depress the trigger and that spinning dial does not spin - you are either out of water or out of soap. Go over the entire room with this technique.
Now this next step is VERY important. You have to do the whole room process AGAIN - this time with NO SOAP. I have used these machines for years and trust me - if you don't go over it again - your carpet will be a magnet for dirt. This time empty out your soap cup and rinse it out and refill it with WHITE VINEGAR. Again fill your tank with hot water. Re-do the entire room as if you are shampooing the carpet.

Let the carpet dry overnight - the next morning I would recommend applying scotchguard carpet protector (you can get the cans at H.D. or Lowes. Yes the Bissell solution has scotchguard, BUT when I apply the scotchguard again - the carpet stays so much cleaner so much longer.

Do it right the first time and don't cut corners and you will have the cleanest carpet on the block. It's a long process to do it right, but the end result is worth it.

OR if you want to save money and use something more environmentally friendly - fill with white vinegar. This will work just as good and leave your carpet less sticky from the soap and your carpet will stay cleaner longer.

No water/cleaning solution comes out on wash cycle

With this model, the soap dispensed is controlled by electric solenoids. these can be tricky to troubleshoot. I would take it to your nearest dealer. these solenoids fail, and cause a variety of symptoms.

How do I work this dam thing?????

How do I work this?

How do I work this dam thing?????

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The Bissell has a holding tank to the solution and the recovery tank for the water and soap you pick up -- -both are removable for cleaning purposes – there is a trigger assm on the handle to release the Bissell Soap or detergent that you are using – (low sudsing) and there should be a switch on the bottom of the unit to activate the revolving brushes. So the best way to shampoo the rug is to do it on the back pull – when you pull back you are dispensing the water solution and shampoo by squeezing the trigger assm, the brushes are agitating the carpet and the vacuum part is picking up the water. This is about as simple as I can get it – please refer to the owners manual for the trouble shooting part of the manual or check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and in the yellow pages under vacuums, or call the Bissell factory phone # or use the website. Too much water coming out.

When you press the trigger an angled piece on the end of the plastic rod attached to the trigger pushes valve button in that then releases fluid. On releasing the trigger, the valve button is supposed to be pushed back out by an internal spring. The button gets sticky with evaporated cleaning fluid and does not come back out, causing fluid to continuously run. Try taking the machine outside, fill the tank with very hot water, pull the trigger, and let the clean, hot water flow through the valve. Perhaps it will free up. If not, the valvle will have to be replace. Either way, once it is working, ALWAYS flush the entire system with hot, clean, clear water to remove any cleaning solution in the system or it will only clog again

Follow the plastic extension that runs from the trigger through the length of the handle. This requires more disassembly that at just the trigger. At the end of the plastic extension you will find a triangular-shaped "ramp" that pushes against a "button" plunger that opens the valve that releases solution. When you release the trigger, the triangular ramp retreats and the plunger is supposed to be pushed back out by an internal spring in the valve. This plunger sticks because of accumulated soap from evaporated solution. Try cleaning that valve and plunger by running clean, hot water through the system OR replace the valve. In the future ALWAYS thoroughly flush the system with hot, clean water after using the machine.
