American Standard blower will not run

I have an American Standard Heat Pump / Air Conditioning unit and today the blower motor will not kick on. Checked all circuit breakers, the A/C unit is running and I can feel cold coming into the furnace unit...but the fan will not start. The squirl cage rotates freely with no squeeking. There is a red light blinking on the board. Also...I have turned the thermostat off and on several times as well as have set the breakers to off and back to on...still no luck.

Sounds like motor has failed. If the red light is blinking it may be telling you what is wrong by the number of blinks. It maybe locked out for some reason or loose wire. Try turning off breakers to inside unit for 5 mins and try again, this may reset unit. But it sounds like a bad motor or circut board. Try running with stat in on position instead of auto in cooling mode.

I just had the 3rd tech. check my a/c which is an LG mini split and he said it was a bad compressor. Unit was installed 3.5 years ago and the compressor has a 5 yr. warranty. Tech also ran the serial number and said the unit was built on 6/2/2005, three years prior to my buying it. Now I'm going to try and get the initial install contractor to file a claim for compressor warranty. Nice, I buy a new unit in Jan. 09 that is already over 3 years old from build date.

Heat works until thermostat calls for aux heat, then blower shuts off with outside unit still running.

Some blowers shut off depending on the system. Do you have electric hest strips inside? If not the blower will shut off. The outdoor fan should not be running if in defrost mode. If you have heat strips then you likely have low voltage wiring crossed

American Standard heat pump troubleshooting

If the compressor is not frozen, then it is most likely one of the starting capacitors on either the compressor or the fan motor. These can fail without warning and without any outward indication. They are shaped like small cans or oblong cans and have 2 or more wires that attach to them with terminals. If you are going to remove one or check them, Make sure the power is off first.

1992 Dodge Dakota 2wd 3.9L V6 Air conditioning/Heater dosent blow? when i turn the air or the heat on i can hear the compressor kick on but it dosen't blow cold or hot? any help would be appreciated

Roger it sounds like the blower motor is not comming on. There is a resistor network located in the engine compartment on the passenger side mounted to the firewall, that controlls the blower motor. The connections may have corroted or the unit itself is bad. That was the first thing I had to relpace when I got my used 92 Dakota. There is also a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the dash board . If that is blown I would suspect the blower motor is seized up or just pulling too much power.

I have error codes flashing on my thermostat..it is an american standard model the manual for the therm. has ACOT900AC43UA on front..says to find addedum 18-HD32D2-1/69-2009 for codes i cannot find it...

Error codes from American Standard Pub 18-HD32D2-8, which is a one-sheet document that came with my American Standard air-conditioner:

29 = not listed

129 = not listed

80 = HPCO Fault - problem is in outdoor unit - Desscription: High Pressure Monitor Fault (hard lock out, cycle power to reset)

91 = Communication Inactive Fault - problem is in air handler - Descriptions - COMM Bit Master Clock Error, COMM Heat/Cool Demand Error, Serial Motor Communication Inactive Error

91 = Communication Fault - problem is in furnace - Descriptions: Blower motor no COMM response, Inducer motor no COMM response, Loss of heat/cool demand, Loss of clock signal

91 = Communication Fault - problem is in outdoor unit - Descriptions: Loss of Heat/Cool Demand Message (COMM), Loss of Bit Master (Clock Signal)

91 = Communication Fault - Description: Comm line is dead and no bits have been received.

By the way, I do not recommend American Standard. I've had mine 14 months and it just blew up - the entire control panel blew. My advice to you - think about a different brand.
