The belt may be worn or broken or the drive pulley may have loosened. The easiest way to access these parts is to remove the case. On some models you can tip the machine back a little and look underneath to see the motor. When tipping back always disconect the power and get someone to help support while looking under the machine. Also take care not to damage the discharge ductwork.

Your belt has been either stretched and no longer fits snugly around the drum enough to turn it or its snapped all together
in all honesty unless you've done it before i'd call a repairman, for two reasons its a 220 appliance and taking a newer drier apart means lots of little skrews and cut fingers

My dryer will not spin

If you can hear the motor running but the drum is not spinning then you probably have a broken belt. If the motor is not running could be anything from a bad door switch to a bad motor. Hope this helps

If you can spin the dryer tub by hand, it aint jammed, if the motor is running you may hear it. could be a snapped belt or motor carbon brushes are worn,

Kenmore 86874800 electric dryer. It doesn't spin (rotate).

Can you hear the motor running? If so, you need to replace the drive belt. If you can't hear the motor running, you will need to get a schematic from the Sears/Kenmore website and check for voltage inside the cabinet. You could also buy another used dryer for $100. This route is certainly cheaper than paying for a service call and repair.

Dryer will not spin, but motor runs

if you can hear the motor spinning freely, the belt that connects the motor to the drum probably either broke or slipped off

Heats but wont spin

Can you hear the motor running when it is supposed to? If so, the belt has either broken, the belt tensioner spring has broken or come off, or the belt has come off of the motor pulley. If you hear humming, but no motor running, the motor start capacitor is likely bad and should be replaced.

Do you hear the motor running? It may just be a broken belt. If it is in fact the motor it can be replaced.
