Your motherboard does not support vista ultimate sound drivers! so you need to get a new soundcard or downgrade to xp!

This motherboard isn't ideal for running Windows Vista, but the Windows XP drivers should do the trick.

Looking to get new mother board because it went on fire, old mother bd was asus P5VD1-X HAVE INTERL P-4 CHIP AND DDR 400 MEMORY THAT I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP USING WHAT MOTHER BOARD DO YOU SUGGEST

Better to purchase new mobo, cpu n memory. Bcoz the compatible Motherboard for your CPU/Memory is no longer available. If it is available, only from the dead stock or refurbished. Better to purchase new motherboard/cpu/memory

Dear master, i haved asus P5VD1-X motherboard problems, its no beep bios and no display but cpu fan normal, green light at motherboard its normal too, i haved try to clean RAM, clean VGA card, reconect...

Every Asus motherboard comes with a seperate four pin two wire ( internal speaker). Either you're speaker is not connected properly or the speaker may be bad.
Check manual page 2-28, PANEL. Asus makes these connections easy by provideding a jumper-block as shown below;

c355ca7.jpg The jumper block is clearly marked.
You also mentioned a removal of the CPU. I only hope you cleaned the old thermal grease from the CPU and heatsink assembly with alcohol and replaced with new thermal past. The P5VD1-X comes with a built in AGP card. Settings are configured within the bios menu. I understand you are unable to receive a single to display to the monitor. Connect the monitor to the rear VGA port. When you replaced the bios battery the bios reset its self to default settings. This means the intergrated AGP video is most likely being used by the bios. Remove any added video cards. If you can't receive video to the monitor I would suggest you contact Asus.

I have a problem with my asus p5vd1-x motherboard. i installed windows 7 os and i don't have sound on my computer. i could not find driver.

Hi, there are many reason that may lead to this problem as windows 7 and new new asus motherboards and compatible which means that generic drivers are installed by windows itself or found on windows update.
Now there are several solutions to solve the problem :
  1. Get on the motherboard manufacturer website to get the driver "click here for the direct link" you'll get the right and updated driver for your motherboard and you just have to setup the application downloaded.
  2. Get a software that automatically detect devices of the computer, find drivers and install them such as driver genius that you may download on it's website : http://www.driver-soft.com/
  3. try to get on sound chipset manufacturer :
    1. Download this driver and unpack (don't need to run setup and it won't help) -> Intel® Desktop Board D201GLY Audio: ADI* AD1888 AC97 Driver
    2. Scan for new hardware but immediately stop the update from Windows Update and instead direct windows to use the drivers you unpacked in step

    Alternatively you might be able to use the RealTek AC97 driver that windows autodetects and installs, but you may have to plug your speakers into the mic jack. If this is not enough detail for you, post back and I'll give you click by click instructions.
    I hope that it will help and don't forget to rate
