Question about Palm Treo 650 Handheld

Dialing out problems

My phone seems to be functioning perfectly, except when I try to dial out. I can either speed dial or punch in a number and it will often connect, but then it will cancel (shows cancel box on my screen) before we get a chance to talk. If someone calls in to me, it works fine - only when I'm trying to dial out. It's been working beautifully...and just started this today. Have you ever heard of this before? I'm going to try a soft reset tonight...but thought I'd ask if this sounds familiar. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: Dialing out problems

Could be a software conflict if you have added any other stuff to the phone, can also happen if you touch the phone on your face. How did the soft reset work out? Try a hard reset after a back up, if this solves it then it is probably a software issue.

My blackberry automatically adds 86 in front of dialing number of saved contact. How to remove it? Thanks

In the phone application, press the Menu key.
Click Options.
Click Smart Dialing.
Set the Country Code and Area Code fields.
If necessary, set the Local Country Code and International Dialing Digits fields.
In the National Number Length field, set the default length for phone numbers in your country.
Press the Menu key.
Click Save.

I think this is a normal behavior of WM. As you go dialing, it goes trying to match it against your contacts list, so that you can easily select the one you want to call without even finishing keying his/her number in. You just have to select the name from the list it offers and, with few operations, make the call.
I might be heavily wrong, though.
Just my 2 cents... Carlos

My blackberry dials + when i dial out of my contacts

There is a setting in Phone Options, Smart Dialing, that is enabled by Default. It is Use "1" for National Dialing, and is in place to avoid you needing to dial 1 or edit your Contacts number, if ever you or them are outside of the local area for the number. Basically you do not need to add the 1 if the call is billed as Long Distance. If the contact you are calling is a local number, you will not be charged long distance if the "1" is entered before the number.

My phone when I press for automatic dialing it adds a 1 in front of the number and the call wont get completed but if i dialed the number manually it wont add the 1 and the call gets completed. Balckberry...

When you do your automatic dialing, does the number include the area code? ie. mine is 937 (937-xxx-xxxx)
If you don't have the area code put in with the rest of the number, that may be your problem. 1 is the country code for USA, so normally when you see a number that says +11234567890, its country code, area code, phone number.
+1(country)123(area code)4567890(phone number)
So anyway, the only thing I can think of is to put the area code in the phone numbers in your address book if they are not already there. Other than that, I dont know.

Problems with HTC Touch

For the first problem go to your phone and select menu then Smart Dialing Options. Turning this off stops the phone from dialing the wrong number.

Not sure about the second one...seems like Windows mobile needs to reboot every day or else it has problems just like PC windows :|

About fixed dialing
If you enable fixed dialing number (FDN) mode, your device only makes calls to contacts on your FDN list. Your device can dial emergency numbers in FDN mode, even if the numbers are not in the FDN list. If your service provider plan includes SMS, you can also send SMS messages to contacts on your FDN list

so if you have this enabled chances are you have to turn it off.
this is how you turn it on so you should be able to use it as a guide to turn it off.

Turn on fixed dialing
1. In the phone options, click FDN Phone List.
2. Click the trackwheel.
3. Click Enable FDN mode.
4. Type the PIN2 code provided by your service provider.
5. Click the trackwheel.

or if you wanna keep it on and add friends to the fdn

Add contacts to the FDN list
1. In the phone options, click FDN Phone List.
2. Click the trackwheel.
3. Click New.
4. Type the PIN2 code provided by your service provider.
5. Click the trackwheel.
6. Type a name and a phone number.
7. Click the trackwheel.
8. Click Save.

and finally some shortcut keys:
To open the phone, press the Send key.
To end a call, press the End key.
To call a selected contact or phone number, press the Send key. To call a speed dial number, hold the assigned key.
To add an extension to a phone number, press the X key. Type the extension number.
To call your voice mail access number, hold 1.
To type a letter in a number field, hold the Alt key.
To type the first letter on a key, press the letter key once.
To type the second letter on a key, press the letter key twice.
To turn on or turn off mute using the Mute button, press the Mute button.
To turn on or turn off mute using the keypad, press the exclamation point (!) key.
To turn speakerphone on and off during a call, press the period (.) key.
To change the volume during a call, roll the trackwheel.

Try using the voice dialing feature. I had the same problem until I used the voice dialing. It worked fine after that.

Wrong number

Sounds like it is set for Smart Dialing, click the call buttong, then the menu button choose options and check the settings in smart dialing. It could be set for a different country, especially if you have been roaming recently

Motorola A1200

while pressing a number in dialing dont press it continuosly for more than 3 to 4 seconds otherwise it takes number as turbo dialing number.
In setup(in the dialing menu where numbers are displayed) there is facility of turbo dialing i.e. speed up dialing such that you provide phone numbers numbers between 1 to 9 for example in 1st number you provide number of your dad then when you press 1 continuously then your dad's number gets called. So, as you have not set your turbo dialing this message has appeared.
