SOURCE: recorded dvds wont play in other dvd players

You have to finalize the disc. if the disc goes to the end it will finalize the disc automatically. If there is some part of the disc not used you have to do it yourself. IN DVD MODE PRESS SETUP, THEN DISC EDIT, THEN FINALIZE. FINALLY PRESS YES. That should do it.

SOURCE: failure to record on -R DVDs

DVD-Rs do work with the RDR-VX500 ...... I had not recorded on mine for a few months after I ran out of the last batch ....... then I tried recording on the newer Sony DVD-Rs I had ...... would not record on DVD-R ..... turns out the instructions say the recorder will not work with any DVDs faster than 8x .... It looks like it's recording but it doesn't ..... then I noticed the newer DVDs were 16x ...... found an old 8x and tried it and it works fine ..... turns out the unit won't record slower on a 16x, it just won't record at all ...... get 8x and you'll be ok

SOURCE: Can I record DVDs on my DVDplayer??

No. You have a player and not a recorder/player. If you have a computer with a DVD slot that most likely is a recorder..

please mark my asnwer as a fixya!

Can not play recorded dvds or record them

Dear Kjwj,

Maybe the player laser lens is dusty. You can try cleaning it with a CD/DVD lenses cleaner disc, like the one shown in the link below:

I cannot provide info regarding the service mode codes because no information regarding the DVD player (brand and model) was provided.

Hope you may find this information useful!

Best regards,

My DMR_E80H recorder does not read blank dvd-r disks

I don't have a solution but I am having the same problem (same model DMR-E80H). It will read finalized dvds but won't recognize or play blank or non-finalized dvds. About a year ago I had to replace the hard drive . . . I'm just assuming that the dvd recorder is just slowly breaking down and will need some kind of repair of certain components. (I think we bought it new in 2003/2004?)

Suddenly won't recognize blank recordable dvds when I try recording from cable box

Use ONLY Verbatim DVD-R 8x. Does not work with any other brand or speed.

Anything I have recorded onto DVD from TV wont play on any other machines. It will only play on this machine I recorded on. It is the same make and model mentioned here.

If you're not using DVD+RW blanks (VERBATIM work fine), then try them. DVD-RW blanks will not play on any machine but the one that recorded the disk (according to the manual.)

DVDs from DVR don't play on any other DVD player

yes when you have finished the recording and preferably when the disc is full the disc must be finalised to be compatible with other players but be aware if you finalise a disc you cannot record on it anymore

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.

Can anybody help me, I purchased a Samsung dvd recorder model dvdvr350m, since purchasing the unit it will not recognize that it has recordable dvd's in it (dvd-rw),it tells me no disc inserted please...

Did the sales guy use the same DVD-RW that you did? Maybe the brand you are using is not of good quality and can not be recognized by the recorder. If he did not use the same disc did you notice if he used DVD-RW or DVD+RW? Some DVD-Recorders only recognize one or the other but this is kind of rare these days. I recommend verbatim brand discs. They should be available for sale at any shop. If you want the ultimate in quality DVDs then go with Taiyo Yuden. This Japanese brand invented recordable media and in addition to that they are obsessed with quality. is always where I get my discs.

Hope this was helpful
