Question about Power Acoustik LT-980/2 Car Audio Amplifier
Hey, I have this same amp and had almost the same problem. Had it connected properly and was constantly getting the red protect light. Sometimes when it was switched on it would turn green then immediately go to red. I checked everything and tried everything I could think of. I am a corporate jet mechanic and know my way around electricity very well, and I was sure we had this thing connected correctly. Then out of desperation I tried running a wire from the battery neg term to the amp ground terminal, and presto it worked. Turned out the ground I was using was not good, even though I could see it was connected to the chassis, it still wasn't getting a good ground. Reconnected it to a different ground and it is working great now. It needs a really good ground.
Hope this helps someone...RC

Sisnce you didn't mention the protection LED, I'll assume it's not on.
You need to measure the voltage across the B+ and ground terminals of the amplifier to confirm that the voltage at the terminals is least 11 volts. Also check the voltage on the remote turn-on terminal. Place the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and set the meter to DC volts.
