My laptop cannot detect the mouse. It states that there is an undetectable device. I have followed all directions and I still can't get the mouse to connect to my laptop

I think this will help.
A USB Connector has 4 terminals. The two terminals at the ends are to supply 5 Volts. The middle two are for data transfer.
viscamtech_13.jpg

If the terminals at the end are OK the device will get power (5V). Then the computer can detect something was attached. But if one of the middle terminals are damaged, your computer cannot recognize the device.
The problem might be with the USB port of the printer. Connect it to a different port. Does it (mouse) work on your desktop machine? Then the problem is not with the mouse.
If the mouse fails on all USB ports, the problem is with the mouse. Check the USB jack of the mouse. Sometimes the damage is visible. Or else one of the 4 wires of the mouse cable is disconnected (damaged) due to bending of the wire. In this case, buy a new mouse or replace the mouse cable.

Computer not recognizing hard drive. Seems to be a problem with usb connection. Can I put the drive into another enclosure?

Definitely you can try with different enclosure, and it will work in any enclosure... But before buying a new enclosure it would be better if you try to connect the hard drive in a different computer to isolate where the issue is...

Q: Troubleshooting: Basic Mouse/Trackball Problems trnsp.gif This article covers some common reasons why a Logitech mouse may cease to function.

trnsp.gif This article applies to the following products:
All Logitech mice/trackballs
Cause:
There are a number of reasons why a mouse or trackball may suddenly stop working. These include the following:
  • defective hardware
  • system configuration changes
  • wireless detection issues
  • hardware connection failures
Solution:
It is possible that the mouse or trackball has failed. A failed unit can be described as a product that works for a period of time then suddenly stops working. Verify that you have not made any changes to the system that might coincide with the failure of the product. For example, if you moved the connection of the device to another port to add another device to the system or if you added new software or made other system changes. Also, verify the device has not become disconnected from the system by checking to see the device is correctly connected. Once you have verified the above potential causes for failure, proceed to the following steps.
1. Wireless Detection Issues
If you are using a wireless mouse or trackball, you should first check to see if you have a connection issue. Please see Knowledge Base article 970 for information on diagnosing and resolving detection issues.
2. Port Connection Issues
If you have concluded that the issue is not due to a detection issue and the pointing device has just stopped working, try the device in another port. If you were using it on the PS/2 port, try moving it to the USB port if you mouse supports it. If you have another USB port, try that other port. If you were connected through a hub, try connecting directly to the system ports to verify the hub has not failed.
3. If the device doesn't work on a second port, try it on a second system, if possible. If it fails on a second system, then the device probably is defective. You may also want to try a second mouse in the same port that the failed mouse was using.
4. If the second mouse does not function in the same port, verify the system port has not failed. Contact the system manufacture for more information on the status of the system port.
5. If either the mouse fails on a second system or the second mouse works in the same port, then you know the Logitech mouse is defective. If this is the case, please contact to inquire about a warranty replacement.

Hi there, my computer cant detect my wireless mouse, even thou the curser is in the screen. but it can detect my keyboard. i did change battery, plug out the wireless antenna, keep pressing the connect...

to know if your windows keyboard and mouse controller is working try to use first a cabled keyboard and mouse, if you find it working try this steps.

first, try to remove the wireless usb device which your keyboard and mouse is connecting to, try to use another usb port from your computer.

second, your wireless device comes with a cd installer, try to reinstall the program of your wireless device

and then try again

Hi, the CS62U is connected with an HP8750 (win2000) and a MSI WIND NETTOP 120 (win XP home). It works perfectly with the HP desktop but the mouse is not responding anymore.

Try this:
1. Disconnect your HP computer, so that only the MSI Wind is connected.
2. On the keyboard, hit [Numlock]+[-] then press [A] (this will auto-search for the computer that's connected, and connect both keyboard and mouse to that port).

Give XP a minute to detect new hardware. If XP does not detect the mouse, try plugging the mouse into a port directly on your netbook. If XP still does not detect the mouse, it's XP that's not detecting your mouse properly, not the kvm switch. :) If it does detect it, you should be able to then plug it back into your kvm switch and it should work at that point.
Note: if you get stuck with lights flashing on your keyboard, just hit [Esc] on the keyboard. That will reset the KVM switch.
Hope this helps!

Onboard usb

VIA needs to stop making USB chipsets... lol... Are you sure you have USB legacy support enabled? Moreover, the default Windows XP drivers are not error free when used with a VIA Rev 5 USB Host Controller because it's actually a VIA Enhanced Host Controller. Every time I have USB problems with the VIA Enhanced Host Controller I go to there website, download the driver, and it usually fixes the problem.

USB 2.0 (VT6202, VT6212, VT6214/L)

Moreover, I have plugged in a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse and Windows XP could not detect it until I installed Microsoft Intellipoint; if you can believe that. Try also installing the mouse drivers as well...

Targus wireless notebook mouse

See for Windows, the answer is yes. This is because when Windows detects that the mouse is not connected, it may freeze. Also may not boot up all the way from restart either. You can always get a multi port USB hub if you need more USB ports.
