Hi

i think there is a problem with the operating system

if it is windows and you have the operating system CD then set the bios settings to detect the CD drive as first boot device

insert the windows CD and let it go to the setup area

the first time it asks for the repair or setup select setup
next after it checks for existing windows setup OS and prompts for new setup or repair select Repair - R

this will reinstall all the windows OS again keeping all the existing settings as they are

hope this helped
cheers

pls rate the solution

It is always useful if you post what operating system you are using as well as the version (such as Windows XP or Windows 7).
I would like to add that, by default in Windows XP, the system is set to automatically restart when the system crashes. Change this so that it displays an error message instead of restarting:
Boot into Safe Mode if you have to,
On the desktop, Right-click on the Computer icon and choose Properties,
Select the Advanced tab and click the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery section.
Uncheck the box beside 'Automatically restart' under the System Failure section.
Then, when it does crash, it will display a message that will indicate to a service technician or advanced user something specific about the problem, such as a corrupt display driver or hard drive failure (both of which I have experienced recently)

When logging off my laptop, and before going into shutdown, I closed the lid on my laptop. The window is now stuck showing the prepare to shutdown screen. The mouse pad still works but nothing I push will...

Try holding down the power button until the computer force shuts down. If that doesn't work, you may need to pull the battery. Don't worry about damaging files, everything should be fine. When Windows boots up again, you just need to select "Start Windows normally".

Toshiba laptop windows updates.i am not able to install them...

go into Services, stop Automatic Updates and the BITS services. Then delete, then start them up. When you do this, the Update History log is destroyed. So the next time you try to look at your history log on Windows/Microsoft Update, it will come back empty until you install again. Then it will show from that point. If you have not installed all updates in the SoftwareDistribution/Downloads folder, these will have to be downloaded again.

You have two options:-

1. Delete the entire SoftwareDistribution tree and lose Update History

2. OR Delete the Downloads folder only, keeping the Update History data file (located in the DataStore folder), and take the chance that you don't get out-of-sync of downloaded files/not installed.

Computer is stuck "logging off." What should I do to shut down and login?

If there's no other problem with it, just remove the power chord and the battery, again reconnect the power chord and reinstall the battery. You can now reboot the system.

Good luck.

Satellite A105-s1014 i cant log on,have any ideea what might be?

3 things:
You got bit by the WPA check (Windows Protection) and it IS telling you your copy is invalid and you need to re-register it (VDDUndo virus does this) - So does pirated SW that eventually shows up on two machines

You changed Hardware or Chip and your 'configuration' is invalid and windows cannot start and tries again and again but you cannot see it b/c it is so fast. Start in SAFE mode (F8 while booting) and select Do not auto restart on error or Enable Debugging) and you can trap that and it will freeze where it fails

Your configuration changed and one or more drivers are invalid, conflicting or just plain not right for the 'discovered' hardware. Start in SAFE mode, run START, Run and type compmngt.msc, open drivers and DEL and YELLOW or RED flagged items you see, then restart and WIN will discover, rearrange and reinstall them again.

May take 5-6 auto reboots, you may hae to do it 2-3x. If it 'hangs' Just power off (Press and hold Power button)

Hope that helps!

I can't get in to my user account.

Hello,

Try to competelly shut down your laptop by pressing the On/Off button for approximatelly 5 seconds...

Once is shutted down, try to start it again.
If you are unable to start up your notebook, then try pressing F8 after the initial screen is displayed. Not wait too long because otherwise it will try to start Windows again. The F8 key must be pressed BEFORE windows starts.... Then, you will see several options...Choose the one that says "Safe Mode". By doing this you will be able to access your notebook and reinstall Windows again. Only do this if you were unable to start windows in standard mode.

Hope it helps.
