If motherboard is new, then the graphics could be faulty. Is the cd plugged into the same slot on the board as the Hard drive?

If so then the HDD needs to be set to master and the Cd needs to be set to slave. If they are on separate IDE slots then they both need to be on Master. Try putting them onto separate IDE slots and see if it works. Get a replacement Video card. They are cheap enough and make sure you check if your board is running AGP or PCI-Express cards.

    Hi there,

I think your motherboard is faulty. Is it running the Athlon64 FX-51 chip or the Opteron?

Your board takes an AGP graphics card up to 8x. If a new graphics card is not working either, I would say you are flogging a dead horse. Did this PC use to work or is it something you have bought for a project? Try swapping the HDD into the other IDE slot and see it if spins. Your cd player is new, you say, but have you tested it in another PC?

I am just trying to rule out all possibilities before telling you to get another Mainboard.

Asus sk8n motherboard. Trying to upgrade to 2 2gig cards. Crusial memory, they say will fit. Wont boot with the memory instaled. If I put them in both black or both blue slots freezes up. Cant get the biod...

The Kingston memory web site is an excellent source of memory spec information even if you don't buy their memory.

For the SK8N motherboard, they provide information on restrictions here: (click here)

Read the System Information tab to make sure that you're using the proper memory speed for the processor that you are using.

Hello,i lost my sound few days ago and tried to install audio driver after installing them and restarting the computer ,a black screen was shown with message'error loading operating system'i don't know...

For that open cpu cabinet.then reconnect both connection to harddrive. Reattach RAM memory . then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 then you can see bios setup make sure harddrive is recognized then save settings and exit. If your harddrive is recognize and still not able to load windows then you need reinstall windows with repair option with windows disk . Also try to run computer in safe mode for that when you power up the computer press F8 key 5 to 6 times then you can see safe mode and other menu then enter in safe mode then go to start menu->run type in run "chkdsk /r" without "" then press "y" then restart computer then it will fix and recovers errors on harddrive. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Problem with ASUS P5GD1 mobo

Is the cpu fan working, remove all the memory, but one stick, then try each stick you have. Then, When you get your post, enter safe mode, this does not use full video, so if you can, and it works in safe mode, it is probably your video, if not it is either
your power supply or another piece of hardware.

Unless you installed something on windows just before this problem.

Post back if you need more help, any code errors would be great to post.

While using my Media Center PC sometimes I get loud beeps from the MB. It seems to happen when a lot of memory is being accessed ( watching and recording a TV show at the same time ) or when the harddrive...

Your ASUS motherboard uses an Award Bios. Open the link provided;
Check the beep codes listed.
Everything you mentioned can easily point to a possible overheating problem. Try cleaning your system fans. Everything electronic will attract dust and dirt which makes your parts run hotter.
If your PC is sitting on the floor the attraction is increased.
Use canned air if you do not have a air compressor. (Do not touch the fans blades while their turning during cleaning), they will break. Pull your system memory and than reseat it. If the loud beeps continue you might consider installing a bolder fan that pulls more cooler air into your case. If your CPU heatsink and fan assembly is clogged with dust you may consider replacing it. Your ASUS motherboard will shut its self down if your system gets too hot. Your ASUS MB also has a bios setting that allows you to check just what the tempture is. See page
4-36 section 4.5.4 in your manual. It wouldn't hurt to install, ASUS PC Probe II from your ASUS CD.

I agree...sounds like a power supply problem. Typically a bad power supply will not damage the motherboard. It should still be functional.
