Printer Canon PIX

Thank you, but all this I knew already. The fact is that indeed there is a false call for papar jam. There is a part that has to be replaced.

The manual said that that one can pull the paper back from the input side. But aparently this may cause breakage of a part. Luckily the printer is still in the guarantee.

By the way, you wrote about HP printer, but mine is a Canon.

  • joop_v Jul 06, 2009

Thank you for your advice, but you did not tell me new. I felt hopeless because there was a message about paper jam, but there was no one little piece of paper in the printer.

The solution: Because - according to the manual - I pulled the originally jammed paper backwards, a part of the machine broke. So I brought it to a repair shop and now it works again.

Clearing credit card-sized paper jammed inside the printer

Credit card-sized and 4" x 6" sized paper must be loaded properly. If
this media is not loaded properly, it will feed into the printer and
will not exit. Credit card-sized paper should only be loaded in the ASF
and in portrait orientation. 4" x 6" sized paper can be loaded in the
ASF or cassette. But must be loaded portrait orientation.

If credit card-sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in
the ASF and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.

    1. Turn off the printer.

    2. Load the same paper type that is jammed inside the printer in portrait orientation.

    3. Power on the printer.
The paper stock in the ASF will automatically feed the jammed paper from the printer.

    4. To resume printing, load the paper in portrait orientation.

If 4" x 6" sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in the cassette and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.

    1. Turn off the printer.

    2. Open the rear cover.

    3. Fold in four a piece of letter-sized plain paper.

    4. Push in the folded paper until it hits the jammed paper.

    5. If the jammed paper is visible from inside the printer area, pull it out and proceed to step 7.

    6. If the jammed paper cannot be pulled out, push in the
folder paper from the rear so the jammed paper is in between the feed
      rollers.

    7. Pull out the folded paper and close the rear cover.

    8. Power on the printer and confirm that the Alarm light is off.
The jammed paper should automatically eject.

    9. To resume printing, load the paper in portrait orientation.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you

Paper jams can be real or false. The unit may report a paper jam when
there is not any jammed paper, however, the solution to a real paper
jam or a false paper jam is the same.
    WARNING:
Jammed paper must be removed using the rear
access door and the power cord must be disconnected or a carriage jam
or mechanical damage may occur. Do not remove jammed paper from the front of the unit.

    1. Turn off the HP product and turn it so the back of the unit faces you.

    2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. The power cord must be disconnected to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely.

    3. Locate and open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab and then pulling the door toward you.

Figure 1: Removing the rear access door

    4. Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that
they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft
towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely,
      replace the rear access door.

    5. Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access
door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers
if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the
rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door. Click How to buy on this page to order replacement parts.

    6. From the rear access door opening, remove the jammed paper.

    7. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any
paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the
paper into the paper supply tray.

    8. Reinstall the rear access door.

    9. Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on.
If a carriage stall occurs after clearing the paper jam, resolve the carriage stall.

    Preventing paper jams
The following information will help prevent paper jams from occurring:

    • When loading paper in to the paper tray, push it in
until it meets first resistance. Do not continue pushing the paper in.
If the paper is pushed too far in, more than one page is picked and
paper jams result. This is the most common cause of paper jams with the
      HP Officejet 410 series.

    • Never use paper that is wrinkled or damaged in any way.

    • If you are having problems using paper that has already been printed on once, replace it with fresh paper.

    • Remove and then reinstall the rear access door.
Verify that the access door is fully locked in place. The paper can
skew if the rear access door isn't locked.

    • Every six months - one year, clean the paper
feed rollers with a rag slightly dampened with clean water. Over time
the paper feed rollers accumulate dust and do not function as well as
      they once did.

    • When printing envelopes, tuck the flap into the envelope and crease the folds before printing.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

    This multi-function unit started out
great until the rollers began to jam and the unit is now, after
following all prompts in the user manual, ready for replacement just
months after purchase. The wheels squeak and it jams for some strange
reason. Paper is right weight and dimensions. So, give it a go, but
make sure to buy an extended warranty. Normally I am a total Canon fan
but this one is a real lemon.

Paper is jammed in the top or rear of the printer. Clear
jam and press Continue or Online to resume printing. To prevent further
jams, verify the rear door is closed securely. A false paper jam message
will occur if the printer's back door is open. If message persists, the
printer could have a defective paper jam sensor and service would be
    required.

Try checking that a foreign object is in the paper feed rollers- do this by inserting a thin piece of plastic about 2 cm wide through the rollers from the paper exit side. Plastic like that from a shirt box (about 2cm wide by 20 cm long and 1 mm thick works well. I have solved this problem many times with my mx300 and it clears out objects which have droppped into the paper feed, such as Pens , yes pens. and paper clips etc which are otherwise hard to detect on this printer.

I have a printer paper jam error but there is not any jam. How do I bypass this error.

There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a jam.

You've got a tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor.

Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable.

Try a can of compressed air, to give the printer a "blow-job".

If unsuccessful, it's time to take the printer to a qualified technician, for proper troubleshooting.

Paper Jam

Hi,

The unit may have a paper jam or stuck object inside, if you have experience a paper jam error before, check the printer for any object or paper stuck inside, clean roller.

Some error like this can be a problem on the feeder sensor and by this time you may need to replace and repair the unit.

Hope this initial info helps
