Beep hp pocket media drive

See if it's under warranty, the controller that runs it is bad, if not under warranty, buy a new one or buy a External HDD/SSD enclosure, they are cheep, just make sure it's for the size drive you have and same serial port, ( IDE,SATA 2, Sata 3 ) you can get them to plug into your PC as USB, EX Sata, Esata.

How i know the warranty expire data'

Do you have the serial number for the server unit?

That will be mostly at the back of the computer. You will find a bar code sticker, below the bar code sticker you will find the serial number.

Either you could put the serial number on the HP website or you could just reply me back with the serial number, i will find the warranty for you and let you know...

EXTERNAL MAXTOR HARDRIVE WAS ISLIGHTLY DROPPED. NOW WHEN CONNECTED TO COMPUTER (USB) DOUES NOT DECTECTED. POWER ONLY FLASSHED (LED), AND MAKE A SMALL CLICK HARDRIVE SOUND, LIKE IT IS TRYING TO SPIN OR READ...

I think that your disk-drive is "SLIGHTLY" dead. :-(

Disassemble the enclosure.

Get the model-number and serial-number from the label on the disk-drive.

Access Maxtor's web-site, and check the warranty-status of the disk.

If the warranty still is valid, Maxtor will replace the disk-drive, at minimal cost to you.

If the warranty has ended, buy a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it into the enclosure, to "reconstitute" your external storage-device.

I have a acer aspire t180 desktop with a 250gb hitachi scsi (ide) hd. I would like to know which hard drives are compatible so that I can exchange it. thanks

It's a SATA harddrive, not SCSI.

Serial ATA

Acer Support > Aspire T180 > Specifications >

http://www.acersupport.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireT180/AspireT180sp2.shtml

Will use up to a 400GB SATA harddrive according to Acer.

IDE stands for Integrated Drive Electronics.
Another name is PATA.
Parallel ATA
Used to distinguish between IDE and SATA.

1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Drive_Electronics

2) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA

3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCSI

Exchange it?
Your harddrive has the Operating System on it.
A new harddrive will not have an O/S on it.
(Windows XP is an example of an O/S)

It would be much easier to install the harddrive you wish into an external enclosure, and plug the external enclosure's USB cable into your T180.

One example of a desktop size harddrive SATA external enclosure,
(3.5 inch SATA external enclosure.
3 and 1/2 inches across in width, for a desktop harddrive.
Laptop HD's are 2.5)

Getting ripped-off on warranty coverage!!!

Are you using the original disk that came with the computer?

That has windows with the drivers preinstalled on it for that machine.

You may have to use some elses working computer to go online and download the drivers and install them manually. I would try this.

The blue screen issues mean there hardware failure. Most likely do to bad drivers.

As for warranty, you could technically file suite against them, but it would cost more in court fees and attorneys than you would ever get back.

Seek rate problem in Seagate 200 GB

Hey, I recommend you test the harddrive with seagates own tools.

http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/

I recommend the dos version.

Also try active smart
http://www.ariolic.com/activesmart/index.html

I would recommend backing up all the data from the drive, and then if the drive still has problems You should send it for warranty repairs. Shouldnt cost a thing.

You can also take it to a local pc repair shop to get all the data copyed and then sent to warranty service if nessasary it will cost thought if you do it via a shop.
