My LG LAN125 mini split heat pump occasionally

My LG LAN125 mini split heat pump occasionally shuts down in cooling mode while displaying the code CA. The LG tech tells me there is no such code. When this happens, I have to cycle power off and back on to the unit. Simply turning it off with the remote does not work. Any ideas?

- I did check the outside coil and found it to be a little bit dirty so I cleaned it. I had thoroughly cleaned the inside filters a few days before.

The unit ran normally for several hours before the CA code appeared and it shut down again. I shut off the breaker to the unit for about 15 minutes and it started up again. Only this time (for the third time now) it froze up on the inside coil. I hear the fan start to make an oscillating sort of sound and know that means I will find ice covering the lower portion of the coil. I have to set it to heat mode for a period long enough to clear the coil.

Interestingly, it does not seem to want to shut itself off when it does this. When the (mystery) "CA" code appears on the LCD, it has not undergone this freezing.

Wash out your outside coil and monitor the outside fan. sounds like a lockout due to dirty condenser or intermittent motor operation. Could mean condencer air problem.

- OK! sounds like you are low on refrigerant or if it has a tx valve it is going bad. Ice on botom only tell me only a small amount of gas is gettig to evap coil. This causes press in coil to be too low and hence yoy getting ice in small section, It needs to be checked for leaks and low and high side pressure checked and try to locate leak or restiction. there is either a sensor that is shutting it down due to low pressure, icing, or more than likely high compressor temp due too not enough refrigerant returning to cool compressor . a lot of newer units have discharge temp sensor and with low gas or restriction system superheat will be too high. Do not try to run this unit until you get this checked out as compress damage WILL happen. These compressors only cool their selves with return gas that yours is not suppling right now.
