Hard disk that was part of a RAID 0 has failed, but still spins up would swapping it's board with an identical one work
Hello,
This is one of Seagates famous "Brick" drives. Swapping boards does not work due to the embedded firmware and serial numbers. However, it is a simple process to repair if you happen to have a $10,000 PC3000 in your shop.
I work in a data recovery lab and can recommend a lab near you if you wish to pursue this. Normally I would advise you to debrick and drop the data onto a new drive, however you will still need to rebuild your raid before you will have access in this case. De-bricking runs $300-$400 and recovering data from the raid costs anywhere form $300-$2000, depending on the size of the drives, number of drives and whether or not you know what position each held in the raid. If you decide to pursue this type of recovery, respond back here with your first name and location (Country, State, City). I will refer you to a nearby lab that can assist you.
Hope this helps,
Chris
